[Dead of Night] Scenario Design

Yokiboy's picture

Hello,

I just read the free Dead of Night: Night of the Santa Claws scenario. I was dissapointed that like the scenarios in the game itself, it only touches on Managing Tension by listing the Starting, Middle, and End Tension levels and outlining what might be occuring at each level. All the other cool aspects of Dead of Night scenario design are sadly missing.

Hey All,

I'll post my Cold City scenario here after GaelCon, in case it spoils the surprise for anyone.

Realms Codex

Shh! I'm silently launching the Realms Codex! A mixture of material for Covenant, covering city ideas, conventions, motifs, factions and apocrypha. It also has links to reviews, rules options and actual play.

It's not got much material yet, but feel free to add to it, it is a wiki. Once content hits a certain mass, I'll launch is properly.

[Dead of Night] Scenario Details

Hello,

I finished reading Dead of Night a couple of days ago, and really like it. It seems like a very good horror roleplaying game, and I'm a big fan of the genre.

However, I was dissapointed by the scenarios included in the book. The ideas they present are typical horror stories and right on the money, but only the general Tension Ratings are mentioned. What about how the different ways of spending Tension Points would affect the scenario, or how the scenario would play using the different Types of Horror? It feels like a missed opportunity, and I hope this is something that's included in the published scenarios?
