Everlasting Empire

[Everlasting Empire] By Jove, guv'nor!

One of the things I want to include in the text of Everlasting Empire is a lexicon of appropriate language, replete with examples. I'm sure there are many obvious words and phrases that I'm missing out, so if anyone has further suggestions to add to this list, please do so.

Some words don't have definitions yet, I just hadn't got round to writing them prior to posting this. And yes, some terms are a bit offensive, but it makes sense within the context of the game.

[Everlasting Empire] Resolution

I've been footering around with Everlasting Empire over the last few days, having effectively set aside for a spell to let various ideas gestate. One thing that I concluded was that the conflict resolution system, as it stood (even in it's very early state) was far too procedural and boring for a game that was influenced by the fast paced adventures of Dan Dare.

So, retaining some of the elements that previously existed, I've been sitting with a table full of D6, my further thoughts on the mechanics and my notebook.

[Everlasting Empire] Spodley Playtest

This thread might provide some help in understanding the basics of Everlasting Empire:

Power 19 at the Forge

Power 19 at the Collective Endeavour

Last weekend saw the first ever playtest of Everlasting Empire. In truth, it wasn’t in any way a full playtest, rather a testing of the Situation Sheet and Character Creation elements of the game.

The group consisted of people attending the Spodley Grange playtest camp in scenic Northamptonshire, an environment (and isolated farmhouse) that was highly conducive to focussed playtesting. Andy, Claire, Janos and Scott all took part, with me taking the GM role.

Finally completed a list of Power 19 questions for Everlasting Empire. Hopefully these might offer some further sinsight into what the game is all about.

1.) What is your game about?

Everlasting Empire is about British heroes fighting to uphold the Empire.

2.) What do the characters do?

The characters are all ‘British’ (or, at least, from one of the colonies of the Empire). They are British secret agents, freebooters, explorers or others types of character striving to uphold, advance and defend the British Empire.

3.) What do the players (including the GM if there is one) do?

Some people might know I've had a game called Everlasting Empire on the back burner for quite some time now. I've been troubled by how to make the game actually work. I was pondering the use of Gregor Huttons excellent, elegant ERP system for the game. However, a moment of inspiration came on the platform of Hounslow Tube Station on Sunday after Dragonmeet. Thanks must go to Gregor for providing this inspiration.

So, I've started writing up my first thoughts on the mechanics of the game. As a side note, the mechanics will be a D6 dice pool based system rolling over a fixed target number, against successes gained by the opposition.
