[Printing] Printing Experiences follow-up (Aug 07)

Gregor Hutton's picture

OK, following on from this thread I thought it might be worth a revisit with up-to-date info.

I very recently had my latest printing of Best Friends done by Fidlar Doubleday.

[Revenge of the B-Movie] Closer still

Iain McAllister's picture

I am doing the final alterations to B-movie before it goes to print and wanted to run them past you guys.

The deck is being increased to 63 cards and I am adding:

Disco Dancing -1
Invasion of the +2
Biker(s) +1

I am not going to put an age recommendation on this run as the initial run will all be sales through the website and at cons. I will consider it for the second run.

Keeping in mind that I do want to keep it family friendly and that Gregor's age suggestion is about right I am toning down some of the words.

So, Lycanthropic becomes Furry

Should I take out Nazi?

[Revenge of the B-Movie] Soon my prettys, soon...

Yes, believe it or not, I am on the cusp of sealing the deal on getting B-movie printed. Woohoo. I have a few final layout things to do including come blab for the back of the box, but I am hoping that I will have it for Games Expo. I will start another thread about the box text, as I would like some thoughts on that.

If anyone else wants to get a card game done, I have a lot of stuff layed out for the group I am using, Guild of Blades Publishing.

GOB publishing

I can give you card layout and rules layout for indesign.

Cheers

[Publishing Horror Stories] The Osseum Debacle

As promised in another thread, here's a cautionary tale of woe regarding the games publishing business.

A few years ago, myself and Paul (Bourne) were happily working away on a website for a free game setting. It was called a|state. Paul did the art, I did the words, some people liked it, happiness ensues. Now, one evening, after a particularly glowing round of online praise and bloated with ambition, we thought "I wonder if we could publish this?"

Rapid POD is apparently under new management.

Ashcans: Printing options

Rich Stokes's picture

I'm interested in hearing various people's ideas, options and opinions on various ways to knock out a cheap and easy Ashcan edition of a game. So print quality is not so important, but cost is. Also I'm working on the basis that the Ashcan will have a smaller print run than a "finished" book.
