Play Unsafe

Play Unsafe 2007 sales figures

Graham W's picture

Of course, Play Unsafe was only released in mid-November. So it's about six weeks of sales.

When I started the blog about improvisation, I hadn't intended to turn it into a book. But then the blog started getting attention and I thought a book might do OK. Improvisation gets a lot of attention, especially on Story Games, and it's a niche nobody else had explored.

I'd decided that, if I sold 100 copies over the lifetime of the book, I'd be happy.

So from the release date, 18th November, to 31st December 2007:

Lulu: 101
Dragonmeet: 12
Thieves of Time website: 2

Total: 115

Dice on a black background

You know the illustration on the front of Play Unsafe?

Is there a way of making the background black instead of white? If I do a flood fill, it doesn't look right. Anything I can do?

January sale

This is just a suggestion. But how would you feel about doing a January sale?

I haven't seen anyone else doing this. It'd be a way of getting attention for the Collective Endeavour.

There's also a sound bit of economic thinking behind it: it's to do with catching the people who like to get a discount; and getting people who are willing to pay a lower price, but not the full one.

I think I'll get shot down in flames, here, but I thought I'd put it forward.

Play Unsafe is published

You probably gathered from other websites, but I've finally published Play Unsafe.

Nothing much more to say, really, except that sales figures are trickling in quite nicely. I've ordered 20, which might be here by Dragonmeet. If not, I've got a stock for conventions next year.

God, I hope nothing goes wrong.
