Thieves Of Time

[A Need To Kill] WarpCon playtest

Gregor Hutton's picture

OK, so on day three at WarpCon we went through a playtest of Graham's A Need To Kill.

With time constraints we didn't play through the whole game blow-by-blow: we played a round of Act 1, a round of Act 2 and then a roll-off of the Denouement.

Overall the game is solid, and it creates a web of inter-related characters right out of a Christie novel. There have been some changes since the first playtest at RopeCon so it was interesting for Matt and me to see the differences.

Dice on a black background

You know the illustration on the front of Play Unsafe?

Is there a way of making the background black instead of white? If I do a flood fill, it doesn't look right. Anything I can do?

January sale

Graham W's picture

This is just a suggestion. But how would you feel about doing a January sale?

I haven't seen anyone else doing this. It'd be a way of getting attention for the Collective Endeavour.

There's also a sound bit of economic thinking behind it: it's to do with catching the people who like to get a discount; and getting people who are willing to pay a lower price, but not the full one.

I think I'll get shot down in flames, here, but I thought I'd put it forward.

Dragonveg: Sunday 2nd December

Graham W's picture

Remember that, on the Sunday following Dragonmeet, I'll have people round to mine to play games.

I'll cook Christmas lunch, too.

You are welcome provided:

a. I know you slightly.
b. You are not weird.
c. You do not smell funny.

We might start quite early: say, 11. We'll see. Depends what time we get up. You'll be welcome to turn up at 11.

Other points:

  • I'm unsure which games we're playing, but I sure as hell won't be running Lacuna, since Jared said he'd probably come.

Dragonmeet: Would you like some cakes shaped like d6s?

Graham W's picture

So.

For my birthday, my girlfriend made me a cake. Actually, lots of small cakes, each about a 4 inch cube and shaped like a d6. They look good.

There's too many of these cakes to eat.

Would you like what remains to put on the stall? It'd be three 4 inch cube cakes. You could cut it up into smaller cubes (each d6 cake would make about 64 bite-size cubes) and have them on a plate.

Play Unsafe is published

Graham W's picture

You probably gathered from other websites, but I've finally published Play Unsafe.

Nothing much more to say, really, except that sales figures are trickling in quite nicely. I've ordered 20, which might be here by Dragonmeet. If not, I've got a stock for conventions next year.

God, I hope nothing goes wrong.
