[Lost Days of Memories and Madness] My game chef entry

So, late friday night I completed my Game Chef entry, Lost Days of Memories and Madness. Then, last night, after getting back from a weekend with mum I polished it a little, adding in some examples of play. All in all, it's been a fantastic experience and I've enjoyed every minute of it.

My only regret is that I've been so busy these past 2 weeks - every moment I've had to work on my game or give feedback to others feels like it's been snatched from somewhere else. Next time I'll have to make sure my schedule is clear so I can give more feedback! Still, standards look to be very high indeed this year!

My Game Chef Rant

Here are my opinions on last years game chef. A blow for faux politeness but a victory for honesty.

I entered game chef last year but my experiences of it were not particularly good. I enjoyed writing my games but...

Maybe I was just spoilt by the Ronnies - a single judge who is an authority on theory and design seems a much saner way to go.

I didn't really get any feedback of value on either of my Game Chef entries. The reviews not being posted for months didn't help either. I also had to review a dozen games which were mostly unplayable pretentious twaddle.

It basically comes down to a popularity contest. By the time the top ten were announced I couldn't be arsed to read any more pdfs so I just voted for who I knew.

Game Chef 2007

It's not about winning.

It's about pushing yourself, and helping your peers.

...and at the end of the deadline, you'll have a framework for a publishable game!
