[Revenge of the B-Movie] Munchandising

Iain McAllister's picture

Hi guys,

Well now I have the product in my hands, and the minor errors in the process of being corrected, I am getting back to thinking about advertising. I am slowly trapsing the various sites I visit talking to people about the game already but I want to go further than that:

1) Posters for shops: games companies send out posters all the time to shops to advertise their games, I see the same thing happening in HMV. Has anyone done this for a game and had any positive feedback from it?

Moo Promo Cards

Matt's picture

OK, back at EXPO people mentioned doing promotinal cards.

Now the big thing in the web arena is Moo, which will take any uploaded photo (or grab your stuff from Flickr, LJ or elsewhere) and turn it into a neat ittle sub-business sized card.

[Zine] First Thoughts

Malcolm Craig's picture

The idea of a Collective Endeavour zine has been mooted. I thought I would spin that off into its own thread. Something like this.

Remarkable!

We can use this thread to gather our initial thoughts, volunteers, what the zine could be like, what we would want to see in it, length, frequency, etc.

First off, I'd like to say that I'm not sure we could support something of a greater frequency than every 2 months. I'd be happy to be proved wrong though.

Cheers
Malcolm

[Promotion] Where next?

Malcolm Craig's picture

Now that the Endeavour forums have been running for a few months, where do we go next?

To my mind, things are pretty healthy at the moment: there is discussion, debate, new games are being talked about, events are being organised and so on. So where now?

In order for the Endeavour to survive and flourish, we need to always be thinking about new blood becoming involved. So how do we, as a community, create further awareness of the site, its aims and the discussion that's taking place here?

Active publicity such as gaming report and so on?

Hook-ups with other sites?

Flyers for conventions?

[US Cons] Food For Thought

Malcolm Craig's picture

Over on story games, I saw this thread about indie games sales at DunDraCon.

There were soom good sales going on there, but absolutely none for any of the UK small-press titles. Zero. So, I postsed a quick query as to why people think this might be. Probably best to nip over to the thread in question if you have any thoughts on the matter.

What is raised in my mind was this: how can we improve sales at US cons? Do we need to incentivise people to run or demo our games? How can we encourage fellow members of the community to support our efforts?
