[Adverts] Ad swap

Gregor Hutton's picture

Ash mentioned adverts in a recent thread about swapping adverts, and I think we should have a "stickied" topic pointing to ads for our books. There's not one already is there?

Anyway, my ads are here:
BoxNinja adverts.

I should perhaps make a square one too, as Ash's book will be that shape, and Cantare is possibly going to be square too... (that's what happens when you see cover art that is beautiful and square!).

[Read Me First] A thread of useful posts to read when starting here

OK, open to everyone. Please post in this thread links to posts/threads you think are useful reads for new members around here. I'll kick it off and hopefully this thread will be a useful resource.

Membership and Dragonmeet Attendance

Gregor Hutton's picture

In this thread Ash asks about buying on to the table at Dragonmeet, and it's a good question. And the answer is applicable not just to Ash but to anyone who has recently come across us and shown an interest in the collective.

The best way to think of it is not that anyone is buying a share of a table and that's all. The way to think of it is that you are a member here first, and then some of the members here choose to spread the costs of the table between them.

I think it's a subtle and important distinction.

Member perks

So this was partially brought on by the site change and also noticing that Geoff's comments were getting flagged as spam.

I've created a new user level called Member. It's like being a site user, except you get to create book/project pages, upload files, add clean urls to your contributions if needed and a whitelisting so the spam filter is less likely to purge you comments by accident. Oh, and change your user name if you wish.

[Dragonmeet] First steps in planning

Gregor Hutton's picture

OK, we are now approaching the end of August and we should start thinking towards Dragonmeet.

A few things need planned.

Now, I can sense some of you are excited at reading this. You will know who you are.

Take a breath. Pause.

OK, now read on.

We need to figure out who is interested in being on the Collective Endeavour booth at Dragonmeet.

Then we will need to figure out who is actually going to be on the booth. It may be everyone who is interested, but I suspect that we will have to limit it based on the available space.
