Best Friends: Macho Men who Can't Stop The Music...

On Sunday I ran Best Friends at the Portsmouth RPG Club. The scenario I had casts the players as 6 members of a Disco band in 1979: a Cop, a Construction Worker, a Biker, a Cowboy, a Soldier and an Indian.

This was a dry run for the game I'm running at Conception. If you're likely to play that (and it's a blast, so I totally recommend it!) you might not want to read any further.

[Best Friends] Ash's upcoming review in KOTDT #135

Ash's review of Best Friends will be in Knights of the Dinner Table #135. I'll be picking it up for sure.

Thanks to Ash for reviewing it, and for everyone who suggested that he should. It is very much appreciated.

[Best Friends] Some more AP and "getting" the game

So, I'm a bit behind on writing up my actual plays of Best Friends (!). At GenCon, in August, I was demoing both Best Friends and Dead of Night. I probably demoed DoN way more than Best Friends actually. Anyway, there were some really nice games of Best Friends that I want to talk about here.

(1) A short demo with 4 players and me being a GM, the hook to this one was high-school girlfriends. Brennan Taylor's partner Krista played in this one and I was very appreciative of that.

[Best Friends] Freaks!

OK, the third of the games I ran at GaelCon was Best Friends and this was the shortest of the three games -- it got squeezed at bit by games running late, others running long and allowing Adam room to run Inspectres before the closing ceremony.

Oh, before I go on I should tip my hat to the staff at GaelCon who publicised the Indie Games Track on the main hall microphone at regular intervals (and indeed made some timely calls for players too). Thanks!

Anyway, this game was going to be something different: no character creation.

[Best Friends] Podcast mentions (Sons of Kryos, All Games Considered)

Hey, I get interviewed by the Sons of Kryos at GenCon (GenCon 2007 Interviews Part 3), and Best Friends gets a mention on the excellent All Games Considered (Show 61).

I manage to throw out mentions for Andy's Dead of Night and some Contested Ground love too.
