Hey!
The final flyer (colour front/b&w back) is now uploaded to my webspace: http://gregorhutton.com/dragonmeet
Neil, can you get this printed this week and off to Angus? If not then let me know and I'll get something done here locally.
We need 600 I think. That's 500 for Angus and his goodie bags, and 100 for us on the booth. The Dragonmeet booking form said they wanted them a week before the con. If you can get them printed then can you arrange delivery to Angus?
The address for contact is:
Dragonmeet 2007
100 Ballards Lane
Finchley
London
N3 2DN
Website: www.dragonmeet.co.uk
Email: angus _at_ cubicle7.co.uk
(I have a FAX and phone number if you need it.)
Let me know how much it will be to get these printed and I'll send you the money. We probably need to start a literature fund to cover this kind of expense. I suggest we spread the cost each time we have some leaflets getting done, and members can choose to help, or not, depending on their circumstances or involvement.
Thanks!

Small Print Run
Submitted by Neil Gow on Sun, 18/11/2007 - 23:20.
Thats a very small print run for a professional printer. I'll have a snuffle at work to see whether I can do them there at internal prices. (thinks) That would be £63 on A5 and £32 on A6 double sided 150gsm gloss. Externally I would be able to get 5000 for £80 (just to illustrate the difference). Getting them printed and off will not be a problem. I'll investigate tomorrow and then post here with the results.

Definitely not smaller than A5

And I'm doing a double-take at that price for 5000!
Maybe scratch our heads for other uses and look at 2000ish? Don't want wastage...

Prices

Its all about those pesky set-up fees. The 5000 are A6 card gloss double sided 'proper' flyers. Like double-sided postcards. 5000 is about the minimum print run that is done on this although I will be asking about 2000 and 1000. I did have a guy that would do 1000 print runs for cheap but his stuff was god-awful. Truly shite printing and cutting and simply not something I would sell. You get what you pay for.
Obviously I don't have my price sheets at home so I can't quote off A5 stuff accurately but I think its about £160 for 5000 for the professional external printers.
I have very good relations with a printer in Kent as well who owes me a massive favour for a late delivery. I'll see if I can squeeze him for a nice short run at a ... favourable rate.

600 for this leaflet is fine
Submitted by Gregor Hutton on Mon, 19/11/2007 - 00:15.
Thanks Neil
I think A5 might be OK. I printed out one at work at A6 and, while readable, it will probably be better at A5. A bit more imposing.
For this flyer we just need 600 I think, and £63 sounds OK to me.
Given the price for thousands of flyers, we can think of more general literature for the future that won't be so specific on games available, etc. But for this specific list we don't need more than that.
However, word of caution, having seen (literally) the best part of a thousand leaflets binned at GenCon by a big-eyed indie publisher who got 5k flyers printed... it's just wasteful. So any big print runs have to be useful over a longer time-scale than a con or two. Still, worth bearing in mind.
OK

Twisted the arm of my printer friend. He's going to do them for £65 incl P&P and send them through direct to Angus. Thats a much better deal. 600 A5 double sided sheets printed - so thats professional print with full bleed rather than our rather awesome photocopier with copier border. That's all good. And he's silly fast so time is not going to be an issue.
I'll send the files today.

I will let Angus know they are coming. I'll tell him to put a bundle aside for us to have on the booth, and put most of them in goodie bags.
Wow - great price! Any

Wow - great price! Any chance of someone saving me one or two for the ole scrap book? I still might make an appearance at Dragonmeet, but I'm not quite sure yet.

ATTN GREGOR - RESOLUTIONS

Gregor - the pdf image is 72dpi. It needs to be 300dpi and we will be living in pixel-hell. The guy is fast so it isn't terrible news but if you can get it resized and reposted that would be awesome. If not drop me a line at vodkashok-at-gmail.com and we can swap phone numbers and get something sorted out.
