News about the games, programme, guest of honour and events will follow in the coming months.

Yikes...

That's a hell of a step-up from early bird to regular. I took a look at the website you posted, but it still seems to be talking about the 2006 event. What exactly does Membership entail?
That said, I doubt I'd be able to attend anyway :( A bit pricey for me.

Much Cheapness
Submitted by evilgaz on Mon, 19/11/2007 - 12:38.
Membership gets you in... there's no individual payments for games or anything, so its pretty much all you need. Accommodation wise, they're brand spanking new student rooms, with ensuite facilities and t'interweb access points and everything (I'm assuming you still get breakfast included to), which for the money is fine. Recently paid £25 a night at a sh!t hole in Sheffield for Furnace and I can say the accommodation at Leicester was better last year and next years is a step up!
Money wise its a reasonably cheap convention, especially if you sit it next to GenCon UK for example (£50 for en-suite rooms, £4 a game, entrance fee, yadda yadda).
There's a big difference between early bird and regular, but frankly you need to look at it as a discount. Even at "full" price, its ~£12 a day, all games included, which frankly is fine.
On the whole its well priced for an awesome convention. If you like Chaosium type stuff you might get added value due to the nature of the Con and the "guests" that have appeared over the years.
This may still be outside your budget though, which is a shame. 'Cos its ace.

Even Cheaper
Submitted by Nellkyn on Mon, 19/11/2007 - 14:16.
Not wishing to cross Mr. Gaz but at the full price of £35 that's only £8.75 a day as it's a four day con.
I've only been able to attend that last Continuum but I had an excellent time between playing and socialising. I got in games of CoC, Burning Wheel and Conspiracy of Shadows
Will you have accomodation
Submitted by Steve Dempsey on Mon, 19/11/2007 - 14:24.
Will you have accomodation for couples?
We're likely to come, even if it's near to Gen Con US (14-17 August). I imagine I'll be promoting Trail of Cthulhu and other even more indie games.
How dare you!?

If it follows the form of previous years, its got gaming and antics on Friday-Sunday. Monday is the day everyone gets up and goes home. Although worth staying to the death on Sunday, I don't think the Monday counts... or if it does its kinda expensive for a breakfast :p

There will be a very limited

There will be a very limited number of double rooms available. I'll pencil you in for one if you like?

I also will require a double room, please. If one is available that is...
Down for a Day
Submitted by Destriarch on Wed, 21/11/2007 - 10:40.
So membership gets you in for the whole run of the convention? That's reat and all and a much better deal, but I'd only want to visit for one or two days at most, so the money would be largely wasted. Is there no 'single day ticket' offer?

Mixed feelings
Submitted by Graham W on Thu, 22/11/2007 - 21:46.
It does look like a nice location. And I had some good games at Continuum last year.
Still, the scheduling last year does put me off coming again. I signed up to run a LARP last year: when I signed up, I was the only LARP running on the Saturday night. By the time I arrived, two other LARPs were scheduled up against me, and mine ended up being cancelled. It was all rather sad and a wasted trip.
Having said that, I enjoyed the other games and I heard that other people liked the convention. So, as I say, mixed feelings.

G Too, I think LARPs can be sorted with pre-event sign-ups (due to have characters to send out in advance and background material to read)? Did you try this route? Get some people (or preferably all your players) signing up in advance and you've a better chance of getting things together.
I'm sure if you contact Graham Spearing, the Game Tsar, he can accommodate, he's a very nice man.
Another point of note is that Saturday night is the Main Event for LARPs (usually a big Hawkmoon or Glorantha one), so you're normally pitching yourself against a bigger draw if you take that slot. If you scheduled a different time, then you'll have access to a lot more LARPers.
There's no way you could know all that in advance, but now I've clued you in, I wouldn't let your last experience stop you from attending again.
I'll be there. Work out for yourself if that's a good thing.
G.

I hope you do Graham, and can be persuaded to run something too. :)
I 'organise' the simpler stuff, which is the vast array of tabletop games that will be taking place. It's a carefully managed free for all, so I am largely there to facilitate, shepherd, and generally help people find games.
There will be breaks between each of the game sessions and we'll try to fit as much into the programme as sympathetically as possible. It's usually a packed programme though.
Freeforms are organised by Simon Bray. EvilG is correct - pre-booking for those can be organised and may this year be facilitated by the website in some too clever by half kind of a way.
I've already pestered Andrew, but hope that the Collective can be a presence at Continuum with stall and demo. With a bit of pushing from me I'd like to hope it could be as successful as Furnace.
In any case i hope you can attend Graham.

That's a shame, I'll have to pass then. I'm not really in a position to commit to something in August at the other end of the country right now.

Continuum 2008 Update
Submitted by Darran on Sun, 30/03/2008 - 14:14.
April's nearly upon us... which means...
If you want to book for Continuum, do so before Tuesday as the price increases from 1st April. At the moment the prices are:
Registration for Residential Members: £20 (£35 from 1st April)
3-Night room (Fri, Sat, Sun) booking: £105
Single Night room booking: £40 per night
All rooms are extremely comfortable and en-suite. Each room has bed linen and towels, plus telephone and internet access. The rooms are grouped into flats of 6 rooms, with a large, airy, well equipped kitchen - great for impromptu gaming.
If you intend to come along just on a Day Pass, these cost £18 each per day and can be bought on the day or in advance.
What else can Continuum offer?
Superb range of games. We'll have the preliminary timetable up soon.
Great bar with Real Ales
Seminars and guest presentations: Glorantha, HeroQuest, RuneQuest and BRP
Auction
Pub Quiz and Ice Breaker events to get everyone into the con spirit
In other news...
Website.
Yes, its been very bare recently, but that will be changing rapidly. Games Maestro Graham 'That's a Play on Words' Spearing has put together the first list of tabletop games we'll be hosting and the PDF should be on the website in the next 24 hours.
Liber Newtus
Newt Newport has kindly donated all his esteemed MOLAD scenarios for publication in a single, mighty tome which will form one this year's fund-raisers. This will be the much vaunted Continuum Con Book this year, and our thanks (heartfelt) are extended to Newt for his generosity.
Guests
We have Greg, Sandy, Jeff, Angus, Rick and Mark so far. Others to be announced in due course. The intention, naturally, is to chain Greg to a table and make him talk and run games; Sandy becomes Evil High Priest and will be hosting an evening of Horror Films from his Vault of Gore-Filled Doom; Jeff will be chewing scenery and hosting the Glorantha Panel; Angus will also be running some games and generally being the affable Gaming God we know him to be.
Cities of Dara Happa
Jeff Richard and Greg are putting together the 'Cities of Dara Happa' book, filled with Second and Third age DH goodness, making it the ideal companion to 'Dara Happa Stirs'.
Auction
Yep, there'll be one. So scour your shelves and attics and bring forth the gaming goodies you want to sell. We'll be issuing auction sheets and tickets shortly.
Wild and Wacky Events
Robo-racing... Ice Breaker... Pub Quiz... more details to follow as these extravaganzas develop.
So, with only 4 months to go, Continuum's pace is picking up. We've over 110 delegates so far, and look forward to seeing many more as the con looms. Pray to Yelm for a fine August sun; pray to Orlanth to keep the storms at bay. Pray to the Celestial Dragon for mystic insight to make this the best Continuum yet, and pray to Malkion for wisdom and divine gaming...
Have a good weekend.
