Two fabulous settings for Contenders!

The setting design challenge has been good to me, even though I didn't get anywhere with my own entry.

Contenders has been blessed with not one but two new settings: Revolutonaries and Umlaut. Hopefully this will help more people get the game as the boxing flavour tends to put off some role-players (until they actually play anyway).

Revolutionaries, penned by th CE's own Malcolm Craig is a very rich, evocative and detailed setting. There's plenty about it on these forums so go and read up! Ghastport, where the action happens is a fascinating demon engineered Weimar Germany. There's so much story potential and so many different ways to take your Revolutionary. Is the country destined for another great war? The mechanical tweaks make a lot of sense and build in a character's devotion to his party.

Umlaut couldn't be more different! Rich Stokes has outdone himself - it's Spinal Tap the RPG. It's a rampage of fun into the world of metal! There's some great ideas - I love the Lemmy rule and the random band names are ace. It's a joy to read and makes the game very accessible, a must for budding rock gods.

Both these settings have taken Contenders to a very different place, it's great to have inspired such diversity. From the texts I can't see any problems but only play will tell I guess. Here's hoping I get to play both games in the near future.

Here's the Forge thread with all the entries together

Cheers
