[Dragonmeet] Flyer

Gregor Hutton's picture

Hey All!

Our artly member Jon Hodgson has solved the problem of us needing a front for the flyer.

It's here, and is supersweet. I really like this and think it hits all the buttons.

We now just need to organise what goes on the reverse. I was thinking of a price list for all our products and a list of upcoming/in development games (so we can catch things like B-Movie, Duty and Honour, Blackguard, Solipsist, etc.).

So, let's get working on the reverse. I think it should just be black on white, but I'm not sure if we have strong feelings about that?

I'll get the ball rolling...

Oh!

Gregor Hutton's picture

The "in development" bit of the flyer is open to everyone on here, if you wish to be on the flyer then please just list your game here.

I'm thinking that the bit with prices will be for just the booth sales list though.

Anyway, Per, Neil, Ash, Iain, etc. if you want your games listed then we'll put them on.

We can always re-do the back part for post-Dragonmeet flyers while keeping the fron the same.

Yes, other published books! (But not on the booth)

Gregor Hutton's picture

Good point Graham. What wording should we put for that?

"Other published books"? "Also published"? "Also"?

Awesome

Just checking

Right, I've now got at least half of my brain back from the dreaded lurgy, so I should be able to answer this one.

Just before I do, though, can I clarify what stuff goes on here? Thinking particularly of Legends Walk - Truth & Justice Edition, which is one of my lead titles at the moment, but is a supplement to another game (not mine and outside the Collective).

And is the plan that we definitely focus on print editions and let people interested in PDF find it through the sales sites specialising in that?

Hi Tim

Gregor Hutton's picture

Just back from Ireland. :-)

List anything that you want to sell on the booth, if you will have PDFs on CD then list those too.

For anything you won't have on the booth you could list it under "Also published" with a "(PDF)" after the PDFs.

Basically, if someone sees it on the flyer under the Price Menu area then they should be able to buy it and everyone on the booth should be able to pitch it.

Other stuff is for info of the range and type of stuff we do.

After Dragonmeet I suggest we work on revised menus, as and when, for future cons and needs.

In the past Andrew has sold his d20 Future books, so there is no problem with you bringing supplements for T&J. I think Andrew is dropping bringing his d20 Future books, but not because they're not allowed.

I'm dropping them because they never sell!

Nothing to do with the writing!

Nothing to do with the writing, Andy!

Right, I was hoping to get all this done by next week so that we can get them printed.

Would Neil be able to arrange printing if we got him the files and money?

I'm happy to pay for the flyers initially and then get paid the cash back from a literature fund (like the web fund in a way).

I'll put together a mock-up early next week and then we'll have a few days to fine tine it.

Gregor

OK, here we go

Tim Gray's picture

Available:

Questers of the Middle Realms
(Silver Branch Games, £11)
The lighter side of traditional fantasy gaming.

Also published: Legends Walk! (in Original and Truth & Justice Editions), Albion, the NUGGETS series.

(It'd be good if the web address could be on the flyer somewhere so people can go looking.)

In development: The Arsenal of Heaven, Jaws of the Six Serpents

= = =

The more I think about it, the less sense it seems to make to bring anything other than QMR - except perhaps as single sample copies to show on request.

I had wondered whether I might get one of the new books ready for Dragonmeet, but that's looking somewhat unlikely now. I could, however, get a single PoD done of the unfinished versions as an artifact to show people... I've got the art and stuff, so that might be worthwhile.

I vaguely toyed with putting the NUGGETS set on CD, but as it has no profile I don't know if there's any point.

Any comments?

(EDIT: I'm vacillating a bit on price - kind of want to say £11, but it feels a bit like adding a big psychological step up from £10... If we want to pretend there is a standard price when talking to retailers, 11 is better.)

PS - Malcolm, will you not be selling the Cold City Companion?

Yes, it would be great if the Companion could be included on the flyer.

Please can everyone check the flyer for suitability. I think it's good to go, but please speak up if there is something you want added.

Note that because of space issues I had to do things certain ways, etc.

If you want a last minute URL added pipe up now.

The high-res TIFF advert is there, a lower res JPG too. For the flyer we have a high-res PDF/X-1a and a lower res e-book PDF.

Please add...

Cool

I will add that in tonight.

Gregor

Cool.

Tim Gray's picture

If you get chance, it'd be good to move the Bewildering Beasts entry to just below Questers. (If you really need more space you could take it out; I will bring some, but it's expendable.)

I also wonder... the upcoming games are listed by designer's name, but the existing games are listed by publisher so there's no connection. Would it be better to harmonise?

Tim Gray
Silver Branch Games
www.silverbranch.co.uk

I put them in alphabetically...

Gregor Hutton's picture

...but I can move it easy enough.

Initially there was no room for authors next to books, but there is now. So I could do that.

Space at the bottom for Games in Development is at a premium and most game company names seem especially longer than the author names (Prince of Darkness Games, Contested Ground Studios ... I'm looking at you, right now).

I pondered this point and thought, well, if I don't put the person's name then there is no connection with those game titles and the actual people on the forum. But I do have a feeling that games in development might best be linked to companies. Equally, if it ain't published then it ain't published (I say this especially of my games in dev, given my only publishing books in years ending in "5" my next title is due out in 2015).

Oh, wise heads of the forum. Speak to me of your preferences.

All seems good to me Gregor.

Iain McAllister's picture

All seems good to me Gregor. I am happy with The Giant Brain's representation on the leaflet as well as my link to Mob Justice.
