Ash mentioned adverts in a recent thread about swapping adverts, and I think we should have a "stickied" topic pointing to ads for our books. There's not one already is there?
Anyway, my ads are here:
BoxNinja adverts.
I should perhaps make a square one too, as Ash's book will be that shape, and Cantare is possibly going to be square too... (that's what happens when you see cover art that is beautiful and square!).

Good Point...

I'm just putting together the files for the Umläut "Parent's Basement" edition. If anyone wants any ads putting in, either say so here or email me at the usual address. Bear in mind that this edition is going to look deliberately hand made, so that might affect your decision.

Perhaps there should be a permanent adverts repository somewhere that people could upload adverts to? Maybe with the facility for people to comment when and which they are going to include, so that people can judge for themselves which adverts have had enough exposure, which would best suit the product they are putting together and so on?

Actually, half-square would be better for me if you're making a fresh one anyway. I plan to fit two adverts to a page, because I don't like filling up the back of a book with too many excess pages that aren't to do with the product. People might think I'm trying to pad it out.
Incidentally, it was Nobilis that first got be interested in the square format of book. I like having access to nice wide margins for design notes and quotations. Being an odd shape also makes products stand out.
Oh, also, this seems like an appropriate thread to mention this. If anyone wants animated rolling banner adverts for web pages and can supply the artwork for them, I don't mind putting them together. I know not everyone has access to the software to do this kind of thing so I thought I'd offer. No charge, natch. Make sure your target site is OK with flash-based banners though.

Not trying to derail the thread or anything, but I'm a fan of square books too! I love the big white space in Nobilis, and Matt's Covenant too, if you've seen that.
Yes, I seem to remember that

Yes, I seem to remember that one, if only from the layout work.

Whereas I fucking hate them.
Because I am a grumpy old man when it comes to human interfaces and cannot see any reason to deviate from the accepted norm. After all, paperback novels are all the same size (well, the same two sizes actually).
I'm totally comfortable with the fact that nobody in the world agrees with me though ;^)
But enough of this nonsense! Back to the matter at hand! I will try to create a couple of adverts when I have some time next month.

I've had many a discussion with Jan and Geoff about square books, both of whom agree with Rich!
Are they?

*Looks across the room at a bookshelf containing paperback novels, very few of which are precisely the same size* Really? :) Seriously though, you're mostly right, the variance is minor. However, it bears saying that RPG books are not the same thing as novels, and have more in common with reference books. And the dimensions of reference books really DO diverge wildly.

As well as games design, I also write comic books and I've a one which will be going to press soon that currently has an unused page or two in it. I'd be happy to trade ads with someone, or if advertising a comic book isn't something you want to do in your rpg I'd be equally as happy for you to buy a couple of issues and take them into your local comic book shop to sell.
Nearly forgot about this!

I went and published the PDF version without putting any adverts in 'cause I totally forgot about this thread! Oh well, I'm still willing to reserve space in the printed version if people have ads they want placing. It won't be out until sometime next year sadly, 'cause I'm having cashflow difficulties.

Some clarification

The comic which I'm offering to exchange ads for, touches on some adult subjects and is intended for mature readers.

I agree with you. RGP books should be the same size as a 1st Edition AD&D Players Handbook.
