I think my father was offered a job in Angola once, but he politely declined. Anyway, Jonathan has lavished it with the amount of detailed research that you'd expect from him.

It's certainly an interesting and worthwhile take on things. I've yet to fully finish re-reading it and fully digesting the entire thing, but so far I really like what i see.

Was talking to my dad at the weekend and I mentioned this to him. He used to work with a lot of accountants from Africa (mostly Uganda and Kenya I think) who would come to Scotland on secondment to learn about public service accounting, etc.
Near the end of his career, he had various jobs of election advice and UN election monitoring floated past him if he wanted them, but felt that they were too dangerous. Though he did know some people who did them without incident. The Angolan elections in 1992 did get a result, but one that was widely disputed and led back into civil war.
