So, it's that time of year again: The collective domain name just got renewed.
Which means somebody may owe me some money for domain and hosting. Which is vague, because last year we just split it between the founding-members. This year we are a bit more settled and have a more open door thing going on, which is cool, but also makes deciding how we do this more problematic.
How do we want to handle things going forward? My initial gut reaction was: if you want to be a "sponsoring publisher", and get a publisher forum, a CE email address and the respect of your peers for stumping up cash, then you can pay a portion. How's that sound to you guys?

Sounds great to me.

I'm in and happy to pay a share.
What's the fee, Matt?

I realise it probably depends on a couple of things.
I'm probably in, mainly out of Love For The Cause.

How much do they charge for

How much do they charge for this fine domain?

Yes, posting the costs might be a good idea...

Domain is a tenner a year. Hosting I work out at 6 quid a month.

So the total buy-in is 82 quid?
Submitted by Graham W on Sun, 30/09/2007 - 20:29.
Split between however many people want it?
Just a suggestion, but you could just say it's 12 quid each. I think you'd have change.

I did consider that
Submitted by Matt on Sun, 30/09/2007 - 20:37.
It might allow for some leeway in case of upgrades. However, I erred on the side of equal share as that's what we've done with other costs like the banner and so on. Obviously that changes given the new state of play...
Thinking about it though, a fundable raiser, where people pay what they want but with a certian minimum buyin might be a better way to go...

I read this forum every day in my lunch break, usually before Story Games (wow! or not). I'd be willing to contribute, even though I am mighty poor just now, and it keeps blocking my posts.

Matt, If you want money, I

Matt,
If you want money, I have plenty of it and a sense of financial irresponsibility. Meaning, just ask and it's yours.
Cool
Submitted by Matt on Tue, 02/10/2007 - 11:17.
It heartens me that you are all so fiscally irresponsible! Looking at Fundable, they charge 7% on top of paypal fees. So it's probably easier just to use paypal.
So, if you wish to support the web hosting cause paypal ten British pounds to: matt (at the domain of) eclecticdreams dot com
If we go over target, I shall use it as a memory upgrade slush fund.
