Wackey Ideas Simon Has While Driving

So I actually went to a games club yesterday, please don't look too shocked. On the was there I came up with a very silly idea for a game which I later did a quick test of with a couple of peeps. Here is the basic idea, side note if you think you might be interested in playing one of my highly insane games stop reading now.

Ok. For the rest of you I'll describe the setup, the mechanics and the punchline. Please note this is... oo maybe 1/2 hours thought so far.

Setup: Each player is told to roll three 6 sided dice, this is their stat. They are not told what this stat represents, this is character gen (yes they can't decide who they are or anything, for reasons that will become clear). You as Evil Games Master (EGM) now describe the situation they are in, the main descriptive words to use are Stuff, Thing and Food. Thing and Stuff are used to describe anything that is not Food, Food will be explained in the punchline. The players look confused and start asking questions...

Example: "You are standing inside a big thing, there is lots of stuff here and some food, most of the food is small and noisy. One big bit of food is very noisy and holding something."

The Mechanics:
- Thinking: Whenever someone asks a question answer it, give a basic answer and reduce the characters stat by one point. Example "Who am I?" "You are Bob, you drove a thing.". "What id the food holding?" "A large cross."
- Doing stuff: Most actions will reduce a characters stat by one, picking things up, pushing things etc. The following do not though, moving towards food and eating food. In fact if a characters doesn't do anything for a bit they will start moving towards food and trying to eat it.
- Eating: If you eat a small bit of food you get 1d6 points of stat, of you eat a big bit of food you get 2d6 points of stat back. Food tends to fight back, this can reduce your stat, small food does less damage and sometimes doesn't even fight back...
- Communication: All characters are in constant communication with all nearby characters, if one of them learns something the others do too. Actually speaking to each other reduces your stat though.

The Punchline:
Well you've probably guessed it, and indeed that should be the goal of the first scene, but all the characters are Zombies. Their stats is Brains and represents the slowly decaying intellect they have. Food is people, small food is... small people.

The way I see it you could either run it as a one off and see who twigs it first or run a simple game as a series of scenes with a goal for each one. The character who succeeds in the goal gains 1-3 points of Brains as a reward.

So that's the idea, I'm going to finish my lunch.

You say eating raises stat,

You say eating raises stat, but that food fights back which can reduce stat ...

How about a + and - die mechanic, which can result in either damage or regeneration depending on a positive or negative result?

Solipsist RPG, on its way ... eventually

Hmm. Of course if you can

Hmm. Of course if you can find some way to stop the food fighting back... hitting it with stuff perhaps.

Personally eating the small food seems the easiest plan.

Well if you don't want food

Well if you don't want food to do damage that works too :)

My educated opinion is that

My educated opinion is that this is a freakin' awesome idea (though the repeat play would be a little thin on the ground), and you should run it at Conpulsion.

Ha, ha, ha, ha. I might just
