The Gay Recruitment Squad Wants YOU!

I've been working on "The Gay Recruitment Squad Wants YOU!" and I've knocked together a first draft. If you get a moment to give feedback, I'd really appreciate it.

It's at...

By the way, I promise that I'll be a good boy and give feedback on everyone else's games, too.

Firstly, I think the tone it

Firstly, I think the tone it is written in is very amusing. I was having a wry chuckle to myself as I read through the text, so that's a great starting point there.

The first thing that struck me was: will their be opportunities for players to create their own regiments? I can see some great opportunities their for outrageous parody and humour. Certainly, it seems to me that players will eventually want to form their own unit and go off to fight the good fight in their own particular way.

One other things was that I was unclear where the starting hand comes from? I got the bit about the GM adding cards to the hands of the players, but I ws unclear where the starting hand came from or how large it should be?

Graham you slightly disturb

Graham you slightly disturb me. :-)
Oh, thank God, I misread animal attraction for something else...

I can't help but think you should run this setting in Best Friends "Oh she thinks she's so tough miss pink fist." Still keep the map drawing bit though, that's cool maybe earn bonus friendchips from it.

Save the funky gin-rummy based mechanics for a more serious caper game, they seem interesting but a bit involved for a light-hearted game.

Also you should totally try and get Ron Edwards to look at Gay Recruitment Squad , I know he was working for a while on a rummy style game called Dr Chaos.

You're probably right about

You're probably right about the regiments. I think it's a wider problem, actually, that there's no opportunity for the players to create their own characters. They might be stereotypes but they don't have to be totally one-dimensional.

Oh, yes, everyone gets dealt cards during the reconnaissance phase...but, to be honest, I'll probably dump the rummy mechanic.

Thanks! Useful.

Joe...yeah...the rummy

Joe...yeah...the rummy mechanic. It's a nice mechanic, but probably wrong for this game. That was the thing I was sort of half-hoping it'd be all right, but it's not.

In the pub after Dragonmeet, I was thinking about a Snap-based mechanic. I think I'll go back to that.
