So we have a dedicated Collective Endeavour gaming table/demo table/stall at Furnace, which is fast approaching. As far as I know it's only me and Iain (and maybe Neil?) going. We have 4 slots to fill, with the saturday morning slot already filled with short demos for con-goers to sample as they arrive and register.
So, who wants to run what? I am planning to run Dead of Night and either Cold City, Contenders or Covenant.
Iain? What do you want to run? Can I put a vote in for Mob Justice! I really want to try that out.
Anyone else coming?

I am definetley going to run
Submitted by Iain McAllister on Sun, 02/09/2007 - 21:30.
I am definetley going to run Mob Justice but I haven't settled on another. Are playtests ok or are we going for exposing things that are actually printed?
If former I could run Stitch or Reel Adventures, but i think I should run something that is actually out. I would like to have a shot at Cold City at some point, but probably with a more comic book, hellboy bent to it.
If anyone else wants stuff tested out down there give me a shout.
Cheers

I'm going to be there - as are three of my gaming group, including redben who has posted on here recently.
I'm going to have to pass on running anything official at the moment, as freshers week is rapidly approaching and that is when I become a wraith-like apparition, sucked of all fun by work. I'm aiming to knuckle down and get a solid second expanded draft of D&H sorted by Furnace. I'm using it as a bit of a development milestone.

I've just booked in to attend Furnace, so I'll be there. As for being on stalls and running stuff, I haven't got that far yet.
Feel free to "encourage" me. ;)
Re stall - one thing I'm aware of is the goal of knowing a few other people's games well enough to demo them, and realistically that ain't gonna happen.

Hello
Yes, I'll be there. I'm not sure if my game will be at a point where it can be demo-ed at Furnace. I'm still working on the combat mechanic I asked for help on and the game also uses an in-game point flow mechanic which needs a lot of playtesting to determine the exact cost of things.

Tim: I make encouraging noises in your direction!
Also, I won't be at Furnace or be part of a stall (alas I am low on books too).
I do feel that some of the statements made about being really proficient with everyone's games can be seen as a barrier to inclusion.
My own thoughts are that we should be aware of each other's games, at a level enough to pitch them and recommend them to people appropriately (if... someone is interested in Fantasy games only, which ones would I say we have? ...they want post-war/modern conspiracy games what do we have?).
However, while it is a laudable goal to want to be able to demo all our games I think it's a tough (if not impossible?) task.
I think the key for demoing other people's games is to get a hold of a demo pack and then be demoed the game by its creator at a con somewhere. So I'd say that people don't need to be able to demo other people's games at first, just their own. I do think they should read up on the other games that will be there.
More than that will come organically be being on booths and being an interested participant.
Furnace and demos

Re stall - one thing I'm aware of is the goal of knowing a few other people's games well enough to demo them, and realistically that ain't gonna happen.
Hmm, I suppose I should book too shouldn't I!
The Furnace stall is more of a table where our games will be run in scheduled slots, rather than the demo/sales booth we have going at Dragonmeet or Games Expo. So I wouldn't worry about having to demo other people's games at Furnace - I can handle that for slot 1.
But if you wanted to run a game of Questers (or anything else), feel free.
In fact...
Submitted by Gregor Hutton on Mon, 03/09/2007 - 11:43.
...I think it's really key that you run Questers et al. so that other people can get more familiar with your games.
And also...
Submitted by Tim Gray on Mon, 03/09/2007 - 16:51.
...so that *I* can get more familiar with my games!
Might even have Jaws by then. (Currently waving a sort of pre-draft at a couple of folks for comments to help get my head back into it.)
Get yer booking on, Kenrick!

Damn, newt I will get those articles to you by end of play tomorrow, last week ran out on me a bit.
Also I back up Gregor in saying we should be aware of everyone elses games to the point of being able to pitch them. If you can run a demo of two or three of them then great, but that will come from familiarity and participation on the booth.
Cheers

Playtests
Submitted by Andrew Kenrick on Mon, 03/09/2007 - 22:13.
Are playtests ok or are we going for exposing things that are actually printed?
As game slots are in fairly short supply, I'd prefer we stick to actual published things.
So it's looking like we've got a game of Mob Justice, Dead of Night and Questers (I hope we've encouraged you enough Tim :-) going on at the stall, plus a Saturday morning slot full of demos and chat. Which leaves us one slot left - any takers?

Gowan, Gowan, Gowan, GOWAN!!
If I get the time I would love to play Legends Walk or Questers. Big IF since I am currently down to run 4 out of 5 slots.
On a more serious note, remember if you run a slot you are eligable to presign for another GMs game.

Which I'll endeavour to get you within a week! As you can see we're currently sorting that out!
So people running games - I need what you're running and a short, punchy pitch about the game. Plus, some sort of vague preference about when you're running it!

'Casual' Games
Submitted by Neil Gow on Thu, 06/09/2007 - 11:50.
I pretty much think I know the answer to this but I'm a worrywart sometimes so I thought I might as well ask the question.
I take it that outside of the organised gaming calendar of events, it's ok at night to rock up to the bar with a game and just grab a table and play something without it being on the calendar? With beer and everything.

Yes there will be Beer and Gaming!

okay dokey here's the word from the bloke who' sorting out the gaming programme.
Yes we will have room for delegate/non-organised/Casual play in the main room, the Jailhouse, which has a bar :)
So there will be Beer and Gaming
Not sure about Everything though.

If I am very lucky I might be bringing along Bmovie decks. I finally have a printer that isn't asking for my first born male child as payment.
I also have an idea for another card game I might put together in time for testing at furnace.

Looking at the list, I can't see anything wrong with this statement. However, on the off-chance that a meteor hits the convention and all of the GMs are disembowelled and said meteor strike is *not* a plot by the Kult of Keepers... I was thinking of bringing a extended demo style test game of Duty and Honour along, for the bar.
Nothing like sitting in a barracks in Sheffield pretending to be Sean Bean, surely?

Ok so we still have loads of places at the Con, 40 places booked out of 70 capacity, however yesterday when Darran (our Venue Liason) checked there was only one twin room at Garrison Hotel itself.
So if you are looking for accomodation, you might want to check out the other B&Bs and Hotels in nearby Hillborough, on our accomodation page.

Personally I recommend the Alara (a basic but very friendly B&B 5 min walk from the venue) where I stayed last year.

I can't think of a more fitting location. I think the barracks are the right period too!
Oh, and count me in for some of that D&H action too!
