OK, who is going to GaelCon in Dublin? And who is interested in running some games there?
I think the format from last year worked fairly well, where we had 1 hour games (rather than 15-minute demos or full 3-4 hour games).
The con runs Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
I'll pipe up and say that I'm super-interested in running some games.
The guy we need to tell is Adam Kelly (cthulahoops at gmail.com), and indeed he is a member of this forum ("cthulahoops"), which should make it easier.
For comparison last year the provisional slots were...
-----
Saturday:
11.30 Cold City (Malcolm)
12.45 1001 Nights (Gregor)
14.00 Dogs in the Vineyard (Adam)
15.15 Best Friends (Gregor)
16.30 Covenent (Malcolm)
Sunday:
11.30 Contenders (Gregor)
12.45 Universalis (Adam)
14.00 A/State (Malcolm)
15.15 Trollbabe (Adam)
16.30 Dust Devils (Malcolm)
Monday:
11.30 Capes (Adam)
12.45 Mob Justice (Malcolm)
14.00 I Was a Mutual Decision (Gregor)
15.15 Mortal Coil (Malcolm)
16.30 Polaris (Adam)
-----
Although those changed a bit as I wasn't there on the Monday.
We could even get away with 4 games a day? In any case it looks like between 12 and 15 games need filled.
So, pipe up if you'll be there and what you're interested in running.

I'd happily run something. Probably Lacuna.

I don't know if I told you that I talked to Jared at GenCon and there is a possibility he might be at DragonMeet in December (well, I put him and Angus in touch about it and last I saw they were talking it over). Obviously, I mentioned that you are highly impressed by Lacuna and would probably be playing it and talking about it in the Indie scene over here.
So, yes, you should come and run Lacuna if at all possible!
I'm hoping to go, too.

I'm hoping to go, too.
I'll have the usual couple of things to playtest. And I'd like to try Poison'd, Polaris and possibly a little Contenders.
I've spoken to Adam already, who's interested in seeing TSOY run too.

Hmm, my personal finance situation says: "No!"
But I'd like to go, and I can demo Bliss Stage, Death's Door, Sorcerer and indeed many more depending on what we need.
Speed King early playtest is not impossible either.
How to get there cheaply and how to find cheapass accomodation?

Submitted by Shevaun on Sun, 02/09/2007 - 17:48.
Traditionally, people seeking cheap digs for Gaelcon (like me) have clubbed together to buy out a whole dorm in a youth hostel. I did that last year, and my expenses were nominal.
Flights should be booked ASAP, as they go up regularly. Mine came in at £50 when I bought the tickets about a week and a half ago, but I did pay extra for a checked bag in case I play in a wargame tourney and need my armies.
And if I can get some practice in before hand, I'd be quite happy to help out running Dust Devils or Cold City. I can't say any games I've written are anywhere near playable, and I doubt they will be before Gaelcon.
Oooh! Glad I saw this thread!

Ah, wondering about responses to e-mail and I find all this here. (Am I using the right address, Gregor?) I guess a time-table can be hammered out here.
So, as I see it, options are:
Me:
The Al-Shab Hiri Roach.
Dogs in the Vineyard.
Great Ork Gods
Brian:
Poison'd
Panty Explosion
Gregor:
Three Sixteen (playtest)
Best Friends
Mob Justice
Graham:
Lacuna
(Hoping to convince him to run Darker. :) )
Joe M
Polaris
Contenders
The Shadow of Yesterday
Joe P:
Piledrivers & Powerbombs
Swansong
Dead of Night
Rich:
Umläut (ashcan demo)
Agon
Contenders
Per:
Bliss Stage
Death's Door
Sorcerer
That's already 22 games! :) So, I guess if we do get 8 people willing to run games we aim to run two slots each.
I really like the one hour demo format, but I'm also open to people running short demos, or double slots if there is table space.

Don't do Darker on my account
Submitted by Graham W on Wed, 05/09/2007 - 18:54.
You're welcome to. It's fun. And the Roach is a good game.
But, just so you know, I don't get any money when copies are sold. Jason paid me a flat fee. So it's not like you have to promote it for my benefit, if you know what I mean.
If you want to run the Roach, it'd be great if you used Darker. But if you want to be all promotional and stuff, I'd prefer you to put your energy towards one of the CE games.
Oh...wait...reread the thread...I'd rather not do Darker. I ran it about three times earlier in the year and I'm sick of it! :)

Proposed Timetable

Okay, recovering from disorganisation - here's a proposed timetable. I've been left with one empty slot. Gregor or Rich could claim it? Was someone looking to run Cold City? If no one wants to claim it, I'll grab it myself.
This is the result of lots of random shuffling games about, let me know if you'd prefer to have a different time/game.
I do need to finalise this pretty soon, in order to get it into the programme. Oh, and if you have a couple of sentence description of your games that'd be great.

Looks fine to me. But two points:
1) I'm profoundly not a morning person.
2) I'm not really in a position to run Cold City. Sorry about that.
Also, is anyone planning on running "proper" sessions of games? Anyone planning top playtest anything, possibly after hours or whatnot? I'm new to this whole Gaelcon thing, so don't really know what it's appropriate to expect.

If you could swap Rich's Umlaut with Mob Justice on Saturday that would be OK for me.
I can run Cold City on the Sunday at 14:00.
Oh, accomodation. I'm now booked into a full room of 6 people at Abraham's House hostel in Dublin city centre. You can book rooms of 4, 6 and 10 at hostels if you can club enough people together. It works out pretty cheap!

I note that all the scheduled games are all finished/published & polished games (with the exception of Umlaut, which has been heavily playtested up until now ... so I'm hopeful that it's in better shape than a typical playtest.)
Now, outside the scheduled games we may get some playtesting done (I hope so!), or maybe not. I can think of a few games (including Traveller?!) that I want to playtest, so we'll see.
