As always, now that I have the sales figures for the last quarter in from IPR, I can give an update on the sales position of Cold City.
The quarter saw continued good sales. In fact, May was our best ever sales month (66 total sales), other than August of last year, which of course saw the release of the game at Gen Con Indy.
The breakdown over the three months of the quarter went like this:
April 07
IPR: 10
Direct: 9
Con: 0
Vendors: 3
Comp: 2
PDF: 24
Total: 48
May 07
IPR: 34
Direct: 13
Con: 0
Vendors: 0
Comp: 0
PDF: 19
Total: 66
June 07
IPR: 19
Direct: 3
Con: 6
Vendors: 6
Comp: 2
PDF: 15
Total: 51
Q2 2007 Totals
IPR: 63
Direct: 25
Con: 6
Vendor: 9
Comp: 4
PDF: 58
Total: 165
Amazingly, this brings the total number of copies shifted by the end of quarter 2, since the start of sales in August 2006, to exactly 600.
Some factors will have contributed to sales this quarter:
The release of the Cold City PDF on IPR
The release of The Dossier PDF
2 highly positive reviews on RPGnet
With any luck, the release of the Cold City Companion will give a boost to sales and mean that we might, just might, reach 900 sales by the end of 2007. Which would be a great target to hit.
Cheers
Malcolm

Good show! I think those numbers probably compare quite favourably with a title in the three-tier distro model. I'm not saying they're the same but they're probably only a factor of 2 off.
When you factor in that sales through distro make far less coin then you begin to wonder why more people aren't doing it this way.
(And that's leaving out the fact that the three-tier distro can just bury your game without a hope -- see Kevin Siembieda's recent "open letter" about a distributor ordering 6 copies of a book rather than the anticipated 180...)
