We Tried Baseball and it Didn't Work.
This appears to be a cautionary tale of undirected drift by people who miss the point of a game. The lesson? Fuctifiknow, but it might be something like "Don't assume that people understand or will figure out why the game works like it does. Better to just tell them and remove any confusion."

Hmm

I thought the message might be "ignore the idiots who try and second guess your game, and then criticize it or offer irrelevant drifts, when IT WORKS JUST FINE AND GIVE LOTS OF FUN IF THEY JUST FOLLOW THE RULES AS WRITTEN".

Ah, if only it was that

If I may offer a slight aside

The post in question is from one of the proponents of Agile programming a neat little idea for how to organise programming teams.
One which many people say "We tried it but it doesn't work". But when questioned you find out that actually they'd tried little bits but not the whole scheme. One of the ideas that really tends not to go down well is pair programming.
Rather than have one highly paid programmer per computer you have two, one writing the code and the other watching, talking to and generally helping (they share a keyboard and pas sit between them) the thought of paying two salaries for only one person typing seems a bit surreal...
Of course such guys haven't seen how hard programmers work when they are left alone, says the man randomly surfing the web and trying to work out how to do my new project.
And wondering if my offer on a property is going to be accepted.

Yes, they decided that

Yes, they decided that calling it "Extreme Programming" wasn't selling it to the management types...

Not wishing to rain on ayones parade, but it's my feeling that these hreads should be purely for posting links to interesting things, rather than for the discussion of those things. If something warrants discussion, then a thread of its own is perfectly acceptable.

Good point Malc.
I've moved the topic and its discussion here, while leaving the original post behind with the title changed to be in line with previous months.
