Right I have now fiddled with some software and am reasonably confident I can put together say an hour long podcast of gaming goodness.
Who is still interested in this?
Here are some suggestions as to content:
A review or two of new games, say 15 mins
A theory piece, 15 mins
Someone talking about upcoming releases, going to talk to Liam about that or maybe Angus. 10mins?
GMs advice?
Interesting things on different forums, I can tag links into podcasts so they display if you are listening on a computer.
Designer's section where a different designer each cast talks about influences, current projects and gets quizzed on things by the host.
Influences, discussion of other media that could provide good sources of game design ideas and settins.
I open it to the floor.
Cheers
Iain

I'll second this. Half an hour would be much better.
I agree on the hour thing.

I agree on the hour thing. I've given up with several podcasts cos they meandered around so much and gave 20mins of material spread over an hour.
What I'd also like to see is a focus, or a particular angle. PIck a couple of themes and stick with them.

I think the strengths in podcasting are that an individual podcast doesn't have to be all things to all people. The true strength in the communtiy is in the diversity. So I think you should pick your strongest suit and plough that furrow.
As for length: I think you should aim to be short, but make the show as long as it needs to be.
On timing, I've stuck with longer shows than half an hour if they've been worth it. But you should probably aim to keep them to a minimum as the others wisely suggest.
Oh and I don't see why a few podcasts (or videocasts) couldn't come out of the UK games scene.
Rightio, so how about we

Rightio, so how about we foucs on design and helping people make games, promoting our own stuff as we go.
So half hour with maybe 3 or 4 sections in it:
Interview with a designer on their work, influences etc.
A theory part, showing how considering theory can influence game design.
News about conventions we are attending and other discussions that designers may find of interest.
Does that seem reasonable for a half hour.
Call it something like Designers Dungeon or something equal naff?
Sound more reasonable?

Hey Iain, the obvious niche

Hey Iain,
the obvious niche I'm seeing is a "my adventures in setting up a game company in the UK".
So, useful anecdotes about the process, kinda thing.
