Games Expo: The details

Iain McAllister's picture

At Matt's request, and my own needs, I have started this thread to conatain all the Games expo info. I think gregor has quite a lot of the con details but this can also be for who is bringing what etc.

I will be bringing flyers for my forthcoming products, mock ups of those products and maybe some big red t-shirts if I can get them made in time.

I will most likely be coming up to Birmingham on the Friday by train as I have some friends to visit down south.

Cheers
Iain

Redshirts?

I am bringing local knowledge, a stack of Covenant and some (limited) crash space.

Depending on when folks are arriving/leaving/setting up, I'll book off some time to help out.

I won't be impinging on your crash space Matt - I've booked a bed at my aunt's house, so that should make things a little easier.

I'm bringing my stack of books as well as contributing to the local knowledge. I'll also have my car to ferry people/stuff about if needed.

What I don't have are the stands, which were left at Conpulsion - who is bringing these?

Aside from the

Aside from the non-collective contingent:
I'm currently planning to be at this for the day on Saturday, mostly wandering and schmoozing again, so I hope I'll get chance to meet up with you guys again. The event feels like a bit of an unknown quantity, though they have great aspirations - we'll see.

Tim, there's a pub opposite

Matt's picture

Tim,

there's a pub opposite the venue that does good food and not bad beer (The Garden House), which I suggest as a good evening haunt for a meetup Saturday evening.

I'm afraid the plans so far

Gregor Hutton's picture

I'm afraid the plans so far are vague... but the rough plan is that Joe Prince is providing the transport for Iain, Malc and myself. (Though it's worth noting that we can all drive in case Joe falls asleep at the wheel or gets ill.)

I have the book stands and Malc has the cloths (I think -- if not I can check my spare room, but I think they were in with the books after Conpulsion). We'll bring them down.

Perhaps the easiest thing is for me to transport Iain and myself from Edinburgh to Malc's house in Falkirk. And if Joe makes his way there then from Glasgow then we can all head down together with books, stands and other stuff.

Thoughts?

Tim!

Gregor Hutton's picture

Oh, and looking forward to see you as ever Tim!

Yes, I have cloths and so

Yes, I have cloths and so forth. I'll be seeing Mr Prince tonight, so will hopefully be able to sort out firmer plans for the travel.

I'll be at the show with a

AngusA's picture

I'll be at the show with a hybrid Leisure Games/Cubicle 7 stand (I think I'm right next to you guys actually :p).

LG will be taking down a whole range of IPR and other Indie Products so they'll be plenty of Indie presence at Expo.

See you in a few weeks!

Cool - it'll be good to see you again Angus!

The rest of youse guys - are we just running 15 minute demos on demand, or are we planning for longer games too?

So I make that 4-crashees

Matt's picture

So I make that 4-crashees (Malc, Gregor, Iain and Joe).

I think 15 minute demos are a good bet, as it seems fairly sales hall focused.

Obviously there's the option of after hours playesting too.

Thanks chaps. I think my last train back is 9-ish, so a meet-up (and eat-up) for a couple of hours or so after it closes would be do-able.

Guys,

It looks like I may well actually be at the expo on Saturday. I plan on checking it out a good 'un.

To be honest andrew I still

Iain McAllister's picture

To be honest andrew I still haven't worked out how to run a 15 min demo of reel adventures, though I will see what I can come up with before the con.

BMovie whould be an easy quick demo, maybe not even 15 minutes. My intention is to take a list of people who would be interested in the games I will be selling and add them to a mailing list.

I should have the basics of the website up and running very soon.

You should spin it for a new thread. I have some ideas.

Salesheets would be good. I think we should also consider some kind of retail bundle / discount in advance.

Right I will print out a couple before I come up on Friday. Unless Matt, do you have a printer I could use?

My bundle do you mean how much for all the games together if some asks or only for actual games shops?

I have spun off the Reel Adventures thread to here.

Tables for pick-up games

Tim Gray's picture

I'm sure you guys have sussed this out - will there be space to just sit down with people for a few mins?

Tim Gray

I think so

Gregor Hutton's picture

Looking at the map I remember there was a bar and other general areas. Apparently next to our booth there is a corner space so I think we can have sitting/chatting space nearby.

From what I remember we're in the Warwick Suite at the top-right hand table. It's about half-way down the map on the right-hand side. There is gaming space downstairs from it too and we should have a table there.

What time do we need to be

Andrew Kenrick's picture

What time do we need to be there to setup on saturday?

Times

Gregor Hutton's picture

Doors open to the general public at 10am on Saturday.

I spoke to Kevin on the phone and he says that exhibitors can set-up from 7-10 pm on the Friday (they are putting all the tables in place on Friday afternoon so we can't get in before then), and from 7:30 am onwards on the Saturday.

Righty-ho. Well, it doesn't

Andrew Kenrick's picture

Righty-ho. Well, it doesn't usually take us more than an hour to setup (if that), so shall we try to get there for 9 on saturday? I'll probably drive (I'm coming from Little Aston, to the north of Brum) as it says there's a big car park.

Do we need to bring anything beyond books, stands and cloths?

Driving

Matt's picture

Andy (and anybody driving there), be aware you can't turn right into the venue's road when heading out of the city from Fiveways.

I will have the following with me:

Banner
Cloths (red and black)
Cold City x20
The Dossier x7

LGTME x5
Villains x3

I'm entirely unclear I'll need that many copies of CC or a|state, but better to be safe than sorry.

Hey Tim

Gregor Hutton's picture

Tim

Will you have anything up with you? You should bring along some of the stuff you're working on, it would be good to see it.

I'll have some Best Friends with me, but no CDs. I have to remember my CE badge, as well as all the bookstands, a spare cloth, scissors and string (yes, Glasgow proved we need these for the banner!).

I found my pink poker chips again, so I'll have my demo kit. What I really want is to learn how to demo Dead of Night.

I might do a small game/demo of Up Go The Heads.
