So, ever since Dead of Night came out there have been requests for a pdf version of it. But I've long put off the idea for the simple reason that I've no idea how to go about it.
Mainly, this is due to it being an odd size, to say the least. I don't think this will be much of an issue for viewing on screen - you'd just need to set it up to display pages side by side and it'd look fine. But it could cause issues when people come to print their own copies off.
So how best to do it? Do I upload it as is (with errata and bookmarks added in), along with a print version which has the pages as spreads.
Or do I go back to square one and lay it out again all over in a more suitable format/size?
What is the best way of handling this? If you were a customer, what would you want?

I have a similar issue with Covenant, it's an odd shape that doesn't suit just uploading the PDF.
I think my favoured solution will be to redo the PDF, possibly in both a screen and printable version.

It's easy to produce a .pdf

It's easy to produce a .pdf that reads fine, just set the customer page size in distiller or whatever program you are using. You'll end up with a version that looks fine on the screen but prints to it's actual size - so if you have (say) a 6' by 9' document, the pages will print in the centre of an A4 page. Not great, but any other method would mean scaling (which looks odd) or re-doing the layout entirely.

Yeh, that's my problem, the print version of the pdf! DoN is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, and that's going to look real crappy in the middle of an A4 page. I think redoing the layout is the way forward, sadly.

I've said this before and I'll keep saying it again and again until people stop asking me:
I cannot stress strongly enough how important it is that a PDF print neatly onto A4 so it can be put into a binder. Letter size is acceptable, because it's mostly the same as A4.
I like hardcopy and PDF as well. Both have advantages and disadvantages and I think there's enough discussion already had on that. But the bottom line is that if I'm to be able to run a game, I need a hardcopy to hand. If I can't print a hardcopy from the PDF I bought of your game, I can't run it.
The hardcopy version of DoN looks great, but yeah, printing that size onto A4 would look poo. Doubling up the pages so that you print two per side looks shit and is irritating and confusing. Just look at any PDF from John Wick. Ugh.
I think you really do need to re-do the layout for the PDF version.
Can you somehow do 2 sheets

Can you somehow do 2 sheets to a page? It would be relatively easy to do a PDF with the pages ordered for booklet printing or one just in page order but 2 per.
Personally I'd be quite narked if I got a PDF of a game that looked completely different. Not so much if the game weren't already in print, but DoN has been out for a while.

I'd have thought the print solution was to get two pages side by side. It'll have quite a bit of white space around it at 100% size, but that's not too awful. It can be set that way by the user in Acrobat Reader.
