OK. Lulu.
I have everything sorted. pdf masters are the right size with the correct bleed for full bleed artwork (which they apparently do now). Its all looking good.
HOWEVER I am being bamboozled by this bloody $/£ business. Even the new woman on their Livechat service didn't understand.
So I quote for my books in Pounds Sterling and the price is £400. I quote for them in Dollars and the price is £549 (or, roughly £313).
So whats the skinny - do I really save nearly £80 just to have my quote handled in dollars from the UK site? It seems bizarre in the extreme!

Yes!
Always quote your book in dollars given the current exchange rates. You really do save the money. Joe Prince was the first to point this out to me.
Do not think. Do.
Indeed.

I was surprised when I realised.
Another similar thing: be very wary of Lulu's volume discount calculator, as it shows results way more optimistic than the checkout will actually give you.

Lulu have always claimed to do full bleed. Their European printer doesn't though, or at least, they try, but cock it up so that the books look a bit poo.

Hmm? I didn't have any problems with the eleven copies of Fearmonger I got from them a few months back?
Yeah, exchange rates are really screwed up at the moment.
