[Hot War] Life During Wartime

Malcolm Craig's picture

The books themselves are finally printed. Kind of like this:

Fidlar Doubleday have done their usual excellent job, the book looks great.

For those who are coming to Gen Con, you'll be able to get your hands on this little beauty (although, not that little at 204 pages) at booth 2039. Or, for those who simply can't wait, you can pick it up at Indie Press Revolution. If you'd like to know more about the game, just visit our website.

Cheers

Spine

Gregor Hutton's picture

That's a nice solid spine there.

So, we have White, Black (lots), Pink, Green, and Red books.

Who's going with blue and yellow?

The book turned out really

Malcolm Craig's picture

The book turned out really well. The binding is solid, the colours on the cover crisp and the internals and clear and sharp.

A good job by Fidlar Doubleday, yet again.

And the book feels pretty hefty and substantial. It's got a bit of solidity to it.

Looks good - can't wait to get a copy.

As for yellow Gregor - when Six Bullets eventually comes out, it'll have a nice yellow (bellied) spine and cover!

Cheers! Copies should be

Very nice!

Got my copy on its way from IPR as soon as 3:16 arrives. Come on Hutton, get to it!

Cheers

'The Giant Brain': 'Revenge of the B-Movie' out now!

Mob Justice now available!

Ha!

Gregor Hutton's picture

15 copies of 3:16 actually arrived at IPR a day early, which caused a minor panic (!you only have 15 copies!?!) and then the other 85 arrived on Friday.

Fred was waiting on my approval to send the books out, which I gave last night. So... the books should be shipping to you soon Iain.

Nate Paoletta checked my printed copies and is similarly impressed as Malcolm is with his copies. Another great job from Fidlar-Doubleday.

Gregor

Are you selling them

Andrew Kenrick's picture

Are you (both Gregor and Malc) selling them directly as well as through IPR?

I'm not sure

Gregor Hutton's picture

I'm not sure what CGS are doing. I know Malc got those 2 copies sent to him by rapid mail, but I'm not sure that any of the bulk is being delivered to Paul for the CGS shop.

I won't have copies until I get to GenCon (they're all in the US and I'm meeting them in Indianapolis) and I don't sell direct from my website.

So, if someone wants them quickly I guess IPR is the way to go.

Yes, we are selling both CC

Paul CGS's picture

Yes, we are selling both CC v1.1 and Hot War through the CGS shop (Hot War just arrived today actually). The new Cold City is available now but Hot War won't be on sale until next Monday so that the pre-order folks get a chance to see their copies first.

I'm a bit pissed off at our UPS delivery guy through, on Friday he left 50 copies of CC on the door step as I wasn't in. Bit of a worry but it all worked out. Now to pay for the shipping...

I can sympathise with you

Andrew Kenrick's picture

I can sympathise with you there - I've had many, many shipments of Dead of Night left out in the rain before now. Luckily, no harm done ... except to the 50 copies left outside Butlins for a fortnight once.

Aiieeee!

Gregor Hutton's picture

Soon you'll be telling me the air freight costs have made John Wilson homeless!

Malc, Which is going to be

Dom Mooney's picture

Malc,

Which is going to be faster - waiting for my pre-order or getting another copy from you direct and passing the pre-order on to one of mates who wants it when it arrives?

US

Gregor Hutton's picture

Oh, Malcolm flew out to the US yesterday and is in Washington, DC at the moment. Paul will know, since he is the man with the books.

Did you pre-order from IPR? In which case they are shipping them out now I think. No idea how long they take to ship from the US to the UK. A week? Any ideas?

Shipping from IPR is usually

NeilFord's picture

Shipping from IPR is usually about a week. My copy of Hot War is waiting on two new books from Arc Dream, so I suspect I may be waiting a while longer.

I'll probably wait until Leisure Games have stock and pop up to pick up 3:16 and Cold City 1.1

I'm sure Leisure Games will put an order in with IPR.

CGS Faster than IPR

Dom Mooney's picture

I decided I wanted the new version of Cold City and ordered the bundle from CGS (the spare of Hot War will be a present for a friend), and the package arrived today, beating the IPR preorder.

Both look gorgeous.

Hi Dom Glad to see you got

Paul CGS's picture

Hi Dom

Glad to see you got your books OK. That's a bit of a pisser about the IPR copy. My only guess is that they are snowed under with GenCon.

Either that or it's stuck at British customs whilst they try to figure out if it's a threat to national security!

cheers

Paul

Just ordered Hot War via

Just ordered Hot War via CGS...

Come on Paul, get yer finger out! ;-)

Greg

My IPR preorder...

warren's picture

Has "been dispatched" (on Monday), but not yet in my eager hands! Soon, hopefully.

Consider my finger

Paul CGS's picture

Consider my finger completely extracted. And I promise to give it a good wipe before I pack your book lol!

Yay!

I'm happy to report that Paul sticks to his word

Evil Doctor's picture

Book appeared today, and a cursory sniff concludes that Paul did clean his finger. Excellent.

Great looking book folks - a very nice, unified feel, with the art and layout working together. I think that's very important to get across that you have a quality product - the overall feel of the book oozes thoughfulness and considered design.

So Paul, do you commisions outside of CGS for art and layout?

Cheers,

Greg

Cheers for the nice comments

Paul CGS's picture

Cheers for the nice comments Greg. The plan was to unify the art and the writing as a one single thing. I like the idea of presenting some of the information in an artistic form, which makes it a more interesting 'artifact' I think. This is definitely something I'm going to do for our future projects.

Anyway, to answer your question, my schedule is pretty much clear, so I am free to do any commission work.

cheers

Paul

PS My fingers were well and truly scrubbed before packing your book. Well, most of them :-)

Shudders...

Ok, can I pm you somewhere to discuss stuff?

Cheers,

Greg
