[Revenge of the B-Movie] Break it down!

Iain McAllister's picture

Hi Guys,

Malc and Gregor were asking me about where the stock for B-Movie went for the first 100 decks so I thought I would split it off into a seperate thread.

Since launching at Games Expo I have had the following:

Comps = 5
Retail sales = 50
Direct Sales = 44
Faulty = 1

The one faulty copy got bashed up a bit on the way to me from the states, but I am hoping Ryan might add an extra one to a future run, still need to chat to him about that.

Breaking things down further

    Retail

Black Lion = 18
Leisure Games = 16
Eclectic = 10
Ecollectica = 6

    Direct

Games Expo = 30
Post GE = 11

At the moment the site is doing diddly squat for me, I have not had a single direct sale. I am toying with removing the charge for P&P. Partly I think this is down to me not marketing the game as much as I should have after expo but work has been a little draining the last month or so. I will be a lot more active in the coming months.

The second run is split as follows:

45, including 5 comp, to IPR
55 to me.

I will be hitting toy stores round edinburgh with the second run as well as seeing about distribution through esdevium.

Oh just remembered, I have also had one sale through the GoB site, which will be properly advertised after Gencon Indy. This costs me nothing, as they produce the stock on demand.

Costs wise, each deck costs about £2.50 to make, I can give a more exact number tomorrow when I am back in edinburgh. A direct sale is £9 and a retail sale is £5.40. I can also tell you that after paying for art and selling through the first run as well as paying for the second I am now sitting on about £200 in my account and still need to put in some money recevied recently which should take it to around £300.

The only thing bugging me really is that I let myself sell out, and swore I wouldn't. Oh well I just have to make the trigger for a reorder higher I guess.

Any questions?

All the best

Iain

Thanks for the info Iain.

Were all your direct sales at Games Expo?
How many cards are there in a deck?

Please can you put aside a deck for me from the next run!

Cheers

Is the process still as

Andrew Kenrick's picture

Is the process still as labour intensive as it was to start with? Ie. are you still assembling the boxes yourself?

Congrats on those sales tho - they're incredible. It'll be interesting to see how it does via IPR.

Hard Labour

Well the 45 going to IPR I stumped up the cash for Ryan to assemble at his end, but the rest I will still have to assemble myself. Hopefully though the new cutters will mean I will not have to squish the decks to fit in the boxes so that will cut down time a lot.

As I get more money in I may just pay Ryan to assemble them. I will check out the cost for that and get back to you on what sort of difference that would make.

Cheers
