[CGS] Q2 2008 Sales Figures

Malcolm Craig's picture

Figure in brackets after the total sales for the quarter are the total sales for the previous quarter. In total our five main print products shifted 286 units across the quarter. This is down from 356 in the last quarter, but as pointed out below, this is explained by the spike in sales create din Q1 by the release of Avenues & Alleyways and the a|state PDF.

a|state

Total sales were pleasing, although down on the last quarter. But that was only to be expected, as Q1 saw the launch of the a|state PDF and the resultant spike in sales that this caused. Still, 40 sales is still very positive.

Avenues & Alleyways

Like the main book, A&A sees a big drop from Q1 sales. However, as the launch took place in mid-Q1, this is only to be expected and not at all worrying. Getting 56 total sales across the quarter is still very good, meaning that we have had 169 total sales since the book launched.

Cold City

Sales of Cold City have remained exactly the same as they were in Q1, which shows that the plateau/tail effect is very much there and that sales are remaining steady. Q3 will be a bit different, as Cold City v1.1 comes out.

One major milestone reached in this quarter was that Cold City passed the 1000 copies mark, hitting 1022 copies sold by the end of the quarter.

Cold City Companion

The final quarter of sales for CCC, as all the material has now been incorporated into Cold City v1.1. Overall, sales throughout the lifetime of the product have been very good, shifting 410 copies in all. Very good for a small supplement.

Very strong sales there

Very strong sales there Malcolm! Do you see any difference in sales in each Quarter on average? Do people buy more games in the Summer or Winter for example?

Hey David, Looking at the

Hey David,

Looking at the figures, sales have been fairly consistent, with the first drop-off into what could be termed the 'long tail' of sales happening in Q4 of 2007.

The different years have worked out as follows:

2006: 000/000/182/125
2007: 128/167/156/79
2008: 92/92

So for the first full year of sales (plus an additional quarter), sales were above 120 for the entire time. Then after the first year, we see a decline below 100 at the end of 2007. As mentioned above, this represents the move of the game into the 'long tail' sales period of its lifespan.

As for differences in sales between summer/winter or stuff like that, I don't think there is anything we can really discern from the figures that we have.

Cheers

Thanks Malcolm, it would be

Thanks Malcolm, it would be interesting to put the figures into a graph, so we could see the sales figures for each product, to look at the shape of the sales graphs. Hmmm ... I wonder if I could collate the figures from multiple games' sales posts.

EDIT : apparently not enough to graph, because you don't post sales by quarter for all the products :)
