Yeah I've been going nuts over LOLCats recently, I love them. That made me remember that somebody was designing a LOLCats RPG here a while back, so I thought I'd tap in and ask if there'd been anything new on that front recently? Is the project stull under construction? How's it going?

Just one extra day in the week? I mean is that too much to ask?
It's kind of half done. It's now suffering from a distinct case of Scimon being too scared to actually finish it, and finding lots of fun ways to procrastinate while not finishing it.
What I need to do is get a playtest version finished and sent off to people to break and such like. This post may have helped spur me onto that.

'I can has XP' is a (hopefully) comedic game about genetically engineered cats fighting (very very badly) against a myriad of alien invaders. It can has Classes, Levels, Fail, Win and Stuff plus Xpandulation Potential and is possibly the only game where levelling up not only actually happens in the game but can be used as a weapon.
And it just needs me to get my finger out.

I've found I'm more creative when writing with a pen and paper then on a computer. I think possibly because the potential for distraction is bigger. Plus I spend all day in front od the dammed things so sometimes choosing to use them in the evenings can be hard.

On the one hand my artistic talents are dire. Truely. If they were better I'd be a web designer not a web developer and have a little goatee beard and use a mac.
But instead I'm a developer and have no beard and 3 different computers running Linux.
On the other hand the photo art idea is a good one except they tend to look awful in black and white.
Still I think some kind of photo / photo manip with some cartoony lineart is the final plan.
Assuming there is a final plan.

Personally, I think that the impact of a LOLcat-inspired RPG would be lost totally without LOLcat photo images as the art. When you say the images look bad in B&W, is that through a proper hi-res printer with hi-res images, or is it printing stuff from the internet.
Of course, to get proper quality images you may be forced to stalk pussycats with a camera. What a shame!

It might well be hard to replicate the best LOLCat images by doing them yourself.
You could try taking the web images, interpolating them to a higher resolution, and then use halftone screens to turn them into line / engraving style artwork? It would be quite stylish
