[d101games] Hearts in Glorantha at printers, SimpleQuest on the way....

Newt Newport's picture

A big thanks up front to all those people who helped me with my Lulu queries a couple of months ago. You helped remove a final hurdle which means the following are now on the way and D101 games is finally a real thing, rather than something that just has a web presence and me whiffling on about it.

Hearts in Glorantha is now done and at Lulu.com, pending the proof copy coming back ok will be released at Continuum. This is the fantastic cover by Darran Sims

SimpleQuest is coming along nicely, and I'm working on the final edit now, again for a Continuum release. Here's the cover by Simon Bray.

Do let us know how it goes for you. I always liked Warpstone for WFRP and I think this looks like it could be something as good for Glorantha.

Great.

Excellent

HiG looks amazing Newt. I so pleased we could help you out with your printing woes. Of course, my interest in the progress of these games is based purely on the fact that as each one is released, we move closer to the main event .... MONKEY!

You've guessed my fiendish plan.

Both HiG & SQ give me experience of the whole publishing shebang from start to finish....allowing Monkey to be the best that Monkey can be!

Nice. It's encouraging

Nice.

It's encouraging seeing someone do a periodical on the small press model as well as doing individual game products. It'll be very interesting to hear how the sales of such a thing go, especially with such a substantial and enthusiastic market as Glorantha fans. Please do let us know how that goes for you.

And well done!

Cheers

HiG continuing a long line of self-published Gloranthan Fanzines

Newt Newport's picture

HiG is actually quite a safe bet, because there's a long tradition of Self-Published fanzines.

Tales of the Reaching Moon that ran during the course of the 90s, which is very fondly remembered and which HiG is loosely modelled. It predates Warpstone, which I thought was always very like ToRM when it first appeared.

Then more recently there's Tradetalk, which is a fundraiser for the mighty Tentacles convention in Germany, the infamous con in a Castle overlooking the Rhine, and the lovely Unspoken Word, which are more like supplements for the game.

In fact the fanzines, ToRM especially, have kept Glorantha going when the publishers have either abandoned it or are especially slow in publishing. In fact in one issue of ToRM back in around 91/92 Greg Stafford says hes done with Glorantha, but in the later 90s decided to come back to it because of the fan support drummed up by ToRM and its associated convention (Convulsion, the predecessor of Continuum).
