Living Dungeon
Living Dungeon places its challengers in a medieval fantasy dungeon adventure game, where they are menaced by monsters, tormented by traps and perplexed by puzzles whilst searching for treasure in a specially constructed, full-size, realistic, mystery-filled dungeon, which seeks to capture the essence of Dungeons & Dragons and all against a time limit.
Living Dungeon is not a LARP, the emphasis instead being on the teamwork, tactics and logical thinking, with a few lateral twists, required to solve the various challenges that will test the wisdom and ingenuity of the players, rather than character role-playing and development.

Booking up and Costs
The way it works is you buy an entry ticket for £5 (or £7 for the weekend). That gets you into the show. To play RPG you pay £2 a session.

Hi Richard

Thanks for posting this.
Can I ask what lead to asking for extra payment for the RPG Sessions? Not that I mind, but it seems an odd choice and I'd be interested to know why it was made.

charging for rpg sessions
Submitted by Richard Denning on Wed, 16/04/2008 - 16:58.
UK games Expo attracts many different types of visitors because of the nature of its mixed format and audience. The aim is to keep the basic door price low so families and general public will attend. Many of these visitors (in actual fact 75% of our door traffic I would say) DO NOT play RPG sessions or tournaments. They browse the stands and try out the games demoed by companies.
Companies like this because it gives them more exposure to possibly new customers. Then they dont mind paying for their trade space and demo tables within or near their stands.
So far so good.
BUT all those RPG rooms away from the main trade hall cost us money (obviously). Here then is the question. Is it fair or reasonable to allow RPG players to play for free in rooms that cost us money and in order to make that happen increase the door charge accross the board even to those who DONT want to play RPG (or Flames of War, or Board Game tournaments) or pass on that cost to the traders - even those who dont sell rpg stuff. Can you see that dilema.
Now our basic door charge of £5 aint bad for a full day and allows free acces sto the free play room friday and saturday night in the next door hotel. Even if you play 2 RPG sessions that only comes to £9 and if you attend both days and play 4 sessons we are talking about £15 for the weekend which I think is in line with many other RPG cons eg Dragonmeet.
What we offer then is a lowish door price with pretty small charges per game.
Now off course your drop in games near your stand ARE FREE as you chaps have paid us for that space already.
Be aware that each table costs a few quid to hire and each of those small RPG rooms £80 to £100 or so to hire per day . We think this is a fair solution but do please comment as we are considering the best way to handle this next year.
