...my last post on the Concrete Cow thread becomes invisible. When I log in, it's there.
So I only see my comment when I'm logged in.
Why's that?

Caching.

To speed up site response, anybody who's not logged in gets a cached copy of a page. They expire after 10 minutes or so, at which point it refreshes.

It is rather annoying

The caching generally.
Here's what I have to do to check if there's been a new post.
1. Go to the "All topics page". It shows the cached version.
2. Refresh it. Ah, there's a new post in Conventions.
3. Go to Conventions. It shows the cached version.
4. Refresh it. Ah, the new post is in the Furnace thread.
5. Go to the Furnace thread. It shows the cached version.
6. Refresh it.
It's driving me crazy. Could we turn it off? It makes the forum behave in a rather unintuitive way.

Just for you Graham

Because you're a valued community member and asked nicely. I've turned off caching for the moment. We may have to reinstate it after big cons, as that's when we can get an influx of anonymous users.
