The very first copies of Solipsist are in my hands and I am so excited! :) It is green, lean and ... well very very green!
These copies are from Lulu, rather than Fidlar Doubleday, due to Mongoose suddenly deluging Fidlar with urgent print runs. That means that the copies at Conpulsion will, in all likelyhood, also be from Lulu, but they are very very nice, so that's fine. The Lulu books are larger than the Fidlar ones will be, which makes the cover look ever so slightly odd if you look closely, but they are otherwise perfect.
I don't think I can post an image but I've got a photo at http://www.solipsist-rpg.com/uploads/images/DSC00061.JPG

The Green Be Eating I Brains

Blimey that IS green! It's a nice, cool, minty green though, so hopefully people will be thinking "This is a minty-FRESH game! Everything about this game is FRESH! I shall do well, here." Good job it's not brown, eh? ;) (One for the Eddie Izard Fans there.)
Incidentally, you can put me down for a copy when they're available to the general public. I've been looking forward to this one.

It looks fantastic and feels pretty good too

I'm really impressed by the physical quality of the books that arrived today. The colour is sharp on the cover, the blacks in the interior are so solid (see the A&A advert for example).
The text has printed well and it feels easy to read and satisfying in the hand.
The plan is to release the PDF version this week and print copies will be available from Conpulsion (22/23 March) onwards. Anyway, press releases etc. to do tonight and maybe some wallpapers...
Yeah I'm enabling the shop

Yeah I'm enabling the shop on my site for the PDF preorder bundle, just got to get the style and postages right :) You'll be able to pick one up soon.
We were also talking about carbon offsetting the game, so it will be *really* green

If you are going to be at Conpulsion then you can get a copy there. Or you can try out our Preorder Bundle on the Solipsist website, PDF + Print copy for £10.
If you want to have a look then visit the website and click on the 'special offer' link on the front page.

Well Done

That's wonderful David, congratulations. I know how exciting it is to get your first printed book in your hands! It's a shame FD couldn't come through on the printing, as they are very good. Maybe Mongoose heard all our recommendations?
I'm sure it will be a big hit at Conpulsion and everywhere else.
Cheers

I understand that Mongoose are just letting their press moulder in a room full of gaming tables (or so Gregor heard). Maybe we should get ourselves a press and become a publishing house too?

Yeah

..the Fidlar books will be at IPR for Conpulsion but there was no point in paying the Earth for more rapid shipping to get them here in Edinburgh guaranteed for Conpulsion.
I think the Lulu books are pretty good and I'm going to set up Best Friends with them too, as an option for people that want to get them that way.
Anyway, off to finish writing the damn press release...

Funny you should mention that, I actually sent them a message asking if they had any plans for it and if they wanted to sell it on. Didn't get a response.
Anyway, back at the OP, I won't be able to get to Conpulsion sadly, it's a long way from here to Edinburgh, so I guess I'll either order it by post or wait until Games Expo instead. Never been a fan of PDF, so I shall probably leave off the bundle deal, thanks all the same!

Well done Mr David. I can't wait to get my grubby little mitts (TM) on one in a couple of weeks. The copy Gregor had at Conflagration looked really nice.

Indeed I will. I'll have what there is of my new game(s) and possibly a Dark Heresy adventure too.
I did include a question about Solipsist in the Conflagraton quiz this year but you weren't there to answer it.
See you in a Fortnight.

Ahh no, I was at home

Ahh no, I was at home playing In a Wicked Age and a Dark heresy / Sapphire and Steel crossover.
Are you running Dark Heresy at Conpulsion? I think I'd like to play a game of it that *wasn't* a bizarre crossover. I'd also like to play a game with more than starting characters, I was amazed by how useless we were!

Starting characters really are inept aren't they? I haven't written the adventure yet but I do have a plan.

They are indeed! Your chance of landing a blow is about 30-40 percent even for a supposidly combat trained character.

This is one reason I like the easy generation of degrees of success you can get from dicepools. You can have characters who succeed; just not very well.
(Not that I know anything about DH, but I've looked at WFRP.)

I'm thinking we should start a thread on starting character competence and / or Dark heresy
