Alt History Cold Salt Lake City

Ken Hite posted something about 10 wrong turns in history which prompted me to these ponderings.

I imagine that if the Crown had kept control of the American colonies then agreement with other colonial powers would have lead to a North American continent with at least three countries, the Hispanic in the south and west, the Russian to the north west and the British, maybe even another for the French in the south east. These national tension may have made independence less attractive. Perhaps this would have been the theatre for world war rather than Europe.

I can see a game of Cold City set in post-war Salt Lake City, a city divided between the Russian, Spanish and British Sectors over a local Mormon population. What demons lurk?

Wonderful

That's quite a fascinating concept, Steve. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

See, now you've got me thinking, dammit! What period would suit, how would it work, etc. I'm thinking of a slightly Western film influence, but with the clash of these Empires and cultures. Or maybe, as you suggest, it's post-World War, a war which ravaged the Americas rather than Europe. And the Germans may be involved as well, what with their attempts to gain colonial holdings in the Carribean and South America.

Very interesting.

Cheers
Malcolm
