[Conpulsion] Games on Demand!

Joe Murphy's picture

This follows the thread on IGT at Conpulsion. And some Kiwis talk about discuss their experiences. So let's talk through the process and how it might work.

* Whoever wants to get involved will suggest a list of games they can run. 3-4 games total.

* We collate the list. We'll have 10-20 possible games.

At the con:

* We set up our space. We have an empty timetable, divided into, say, six slots per day.

* We tally votes and fill slots. When slots don't have enough players, we recruit.

Two of the GMs will be coordinators, responsible for collecting lost players, on-the-spot solutions, brief people, etc:. Like these folk did.

Thoughts?

As previously stated...

I'm in.

I can happily run or facilitate Shock, Polaris, Bliss Stage, or The Shab-Al-Hiri Roach.

I wonder, might there be any interest or need for Kid-centric games? Because I have Faerie's Tale and access to Meddling Kids and Zorcerer of Zo. I work with kids and game with them, so wouldn't want any possibly attending kids to feel excluded.

Do many children show up at Cons?

They'd bloody better not

Could we design the slots to match the Conpulsion ones? That was slightly odd with our Indie Games Track slots last year.

I can run Lacuna, Roach and, let's say, Fear Itself.

Is it wise to have both GOD

Per Fischer's picture

Is it wise to have both GOD and IGT at the same time? Isn't it the same people we want? Or is GOD full-length games and IGT short demos, say, 1 hour. Just asking.

Back on topic. I can run Burning Empires, Sorcerer, Tears in Rain/Trollbabe and Dirty Secrets.

Great idea to offer games for kids - we'll play with your kids while daddy is fiddling with tabletop figures or whatever :)

Edit: OH! And I need time to drink beer with Graham ;)

Many games

We're not going to have booth demos, IGT and GOD are we?

That seems too much, especially as the uptake was pretty poor for IGT last year (at least for all the games I ran).

I'll certainly be involved on the booth and with IGT/GOD.
I can run Contenders, Piledrivers & Powerbombs, Labyrinths & Lycanthropes and some Swansong.

Well, I'm personally happy

Joe Murphy's picture

Well, I'm personally happy to run GOD instead of the set games. Or alongside the set games. Or to vary the session lengths. So GODs would be 2-3 hours. GODs could have overlapping sessions, too. Thoughts?

Games for kids would be great. I also have Zo. And I could run Mouse Guard (aka Tiny Triangles).

I guess...

We should merely weigh the advantages and disadvantages of IGT vs. GOD.

IGT has set slots, so people can book in, which is good for people that like to plan their Con day.

GOD has, um... OD, which means we can snag all the folks between games or who didn't plan or get booked in.

I don't know what other advantages there might be, someone else help me out here...

And Joe, I would totally play Tiny Triangles, so you should definitely run it. I can have some pre-gens and an outline for Faerie's Tale, as well.

Where will these games be listed? Just on the website, or will there be a kind of Con Program available to the attendees? Would it behoove us to advertise our potential Kid's Games? I really think it's a good idea. I can even advertise at my work, and probably guarantee a few players. One kid I know will certainly want to attend.
