Hello Collective Endeavourists!
My name's Tom, I'm a Student at the University of Warwick, and I play indie roleplaying games. I do most of my indie roleplaying online, however, and mostly on #indierpgs on the MagicStar network.
Playing online works well (most of the time) and, while tending to be slower than face to face, has it's own charm in a number of ways. SO I'm pretty happy. Except! The channel is, in large part, packed solidly with AMERICANS.
Oh yes, Americans. The horror.....
... of having to stay up until 2am just to START games, half the time. Time difference sucks.
So I was thinking "hey, there's a whole UK community of indie roleplayers and game creators. Why aren't they on IRC?" And then I thought two things:
"They probably are already, just somewhere I don't see, you dolt."
"Because you never invited any, you double-dolt."
having been thus roundly chastised by my brain, I resolved to post about IRC games on the Collective Endeavour. Like this:
IRC games.
Let's play some! If you have a game you'd like to playtest, YAY! I love playtesting. the channel is good for general advice on game design too - you can hang out, assuming they're awake when you are, with a mixture of up and coming designers with neat ideas who also want to playtest all OVER your FACE.
We might even organise a regular time, such as, say, 8pm on a Tuesday evening, in which to all meet online and play regularly.
If you need help working the controls of IRC in some way, then please ask! I'll see if I can help you.
So come on, let's invade the US!

I've moved the discussion of hows and whys to not dilute Thomas's request for players, which should really be the focus of this thread (not that a discussion of whys isn't a good thread in its own right).

I joined #indierpgs but not much was going on. Who are you on there?
Likely not in an arranged slot

The Indie Netgaming Yahoogroup is a good place to find out when folks are playing. I've been a member for years, but never got round to playing anything (due to similar reasons to Thomas, and not having student flexibility)
Back at organising. I'd be interested. Tuesdays are quite good for me.
We needn't use IRC of course, there's Skype and so on too.

It tends to go with American time zones, which makes things a little difficult.
I am reading Trail of Cthulhu, though, so may not be very active.

on the channel I'm usually Mese or Meserach or derivatives thereof. The best thing to do, though, is go into the channel and type a few lines in there, ad then wait around fifteen minutes. If I am online, I'll see it. If I'm not, I won't.
