[UK Games Expo] 2008 UK Games Expo

Gregor Hutton's picture

The latest UK Games Expo 08 newsletter is online.

I'm assuming at this point that we'll be having a Contributing Sponsor stand there (at least, that's what we had last year). If we're having any games launched around that time (31 May/1 June) then we could let them know and get publicity for the con and the new releases.

Solipsist will be debuting at Conpulsion at the end of March (we hope) and it should be a "new" book at Games Expo. Umlaut is another possibility, perhaps. Any others?

I hope to see some new faces on the booth at that point too. Those people who weren't on the booth at Dragonmeet, but have been posting around here recently, are welcome to be part of the CE stand on UKGE.

I am hoping to have 'Reel

I am hoping to have 'Reel Adventures' for Conpulsion and 'Stitch' might be out by Games expo. 'Reel Adventures' will definetley be out by Games Expo.

50/50...

Malcolm Craig's picture

It's 50/50 whether or not I'll be back in the country in time for GE this year. I would really love to go, but will need to see how long I spend in Oz. regardless, CGS will, as always, be delighted to pay a share of the costs in order to have product represented there.

No chance of anything new for the con though.

I imagine I'll be there,

I imagine I'll be there, although it's rather unlikely I'll have anything new out unless I really pull my finger out! Still, I'm happy to help demo anything I can!

Taking on 4th ed

I'll be along, certainly.

I'd like to have at least one new game out, either The Dragon vs The Gun or Labyrinths & Lycanthropes.

It would be ace to entice some of the D&D 4th edition crowd with a mighty L&L dungeon bash. I am relying on getting some artwork and feedback though so it's un uncertain what stage I'll be at. Still a vague deadline should help.

Last year was good

...so I'll certainly be along as a delegate again this year, assuming it's in the same place or somewhere nearby that I can also easily get to. Once again it's doubtful I'll be able to get a stall of my own there, but you never know. By that time I hope to have the print edition of FearMonger ready, and who knows maybe even a new edition of DreamCatcher too so even if I can't exhibit I may see if I can organise a couple of delegate games to demonstrate them. Also, since I live nearby, if there's any help I can get folks who are thinking of attending then let me know.

Well, you could always consider...

... buying into the Collective Endeavour booth.

No need for anyone to commit to a yes or no at this moment in time as we're many moons away from needing to know that stuff. But for you, Iain, Neil, Graham and so on, it is an option if you have games ready then and you feel like members of the site here.

Oh, Expo, yes

Matt's picture

My house will be available in some capacity during Expo (details dependent on owed crashings and so on). We'll go somewhere other than the Garden House for food though...

Ash, as to being on a booth and being a member... Last year, you turned up on site, made a request to join a booth, got asked to contribute a bit to the site first and disappeared off elsewhere when that request was made. It genuinely seemed you didn't get the whole mutualism thing.

Since then, you've come back and started posting useful stuff.

But contributing is about more than posting 'me too' comments though, it's about being willing to play other people's games, talk about actual play, share experience, promote other's equally and help them out with problems.

People like Graham, Rich, Neil have made themselves members by doing those things.

Moved

Guys,

I've moved the membership discussion here.

Hope that's OK. UKGE and membership are both excellent topics for discussion, but separate things also.

I am currently planning on being at UKGE with Umläut. And some chocolate. Also, probably beer.

Umläut will probably still be Bootleg Edition then, but maybe not quite as it is right now, I'm not sure yet.

Get your booth 'ere

Hi guys
Just thought I would pop on and say hello. I am one of the organisers of UK Games Expo. I see from all this discussion that there is interest in attending and exhibiting also. This is great and when we spoke to your stand at Dragonmeet there was also interest in some form of sponosorship.

However we have not actually heard directly from anyone about booking a stand or demo tables. We have you provisionally penciled in for 12 foot of space in the Warwick room where incidentally Pinacle will be and probably Cubicle 7 so it may have quite an RPG feel to it. Perhaps some one would want to look at the exhibitor pack:
http://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/application.php

12 Foot in there costs £170.
Additionally we have demo tables of 4 ft x 3 foot in the centre there which you might want to look at taking. They are £40 each.

You may want to consider being a Passport Sponsor which costs an additional £100. the idea here is that each visitor has a "passport" that they have to get stamped by each Major Sponsor but also by 1 Passport sponsor in each zone by visiting their stand. We expect that the sponsors would use this opportunity to do some sales pitch and hopefully make a few more sales.

The passports are then used as prize draw tickets with the winners getting vouchers valid ONLY on those stands and reimbursed IN FULL by us. So again a chance of some more sales .

We have a zone 1 and a zone 3 Passport Sponsor along with the Major Sponsors but not yet a zone2, 4, 6 or 7 one. Not a bad way to get visitors to see your stuff?

Any news as yet on any new games? I see some discussion about it here. If you let me have blurb and pics I will get some of that on our RPG web page to give you some publicity.

Thanks Richard for looking out for us.

Everyone else, I am currently struggling through an internet famine, which will hopefully be resolved on Thursday. I will then contact everyone who has expressed an interest in buying into our table at the con. I have your e-mail addresses, and I will post here once I have composed my mail -- so that you know you have mail, or that I have somehow sent it to a dead e-mail address.

Please, no posting in this thread until I've sent my mail, since I likely won't be able to read it.
