Guys, we need to get a schedule together for Conception.
As far as I know, the following people are coming and going to run games under the CE banner:
Me
Iain
Andrew
Graham
Andrew, do we have a dedicated table like we did last year?
I know someone suggested that we have at least one CE or Indie game running in every slot. I personally think that this is very achievable with only a little planning. It's a good idea to get the schedule of game up as early as we can.
The slots are as follows:
Weds: Afternoon, Evening
Thurs: Morning, Afternoon, Evening
Fri: Morning, Afternoon, Evening
Sat: Morning, Afternoon, Evening
Sun: Morning, Afternoon
Weds and Sun afternoon slots are more poorly attended because people are either arriving or packing up and knackered.
I'll be running Umläut (obviously) and Weds evening is a good time for that. It's a more informal slot and people getting pissed and pretending to be rock stars works quite well. Other than that, I was planning on running a Best Friends game called Macho Men Who Can't Stop The Music At The YMCA and probably Piledrivers and Powerbombs. Exactly when, I have no idea, but I'm profoundly not a morning person so afternoon slots suit me better. I'll also run an Agon game at some point, but probably not under the CE banner.
Iain will, I assume be running Mob Justice? When, exactly are you going to be there?
Andrew, Dead Of Night I assume? You ran Cold City last year, are you going to run another one of those? Sounded like a lot of fun.
Graham, anything not called Fear Itself on your agenda?
I know that Scott D will be there too and probably running a couple of game much like he did last year. Anyone else who's going but hasn't mentioned it yet, now would be a good time!
I have all the banners and shelving thingies. Andrew has the sweaty smelling tablecloth things I think.
What about stock of games for sale?

Let's see

I'll happily take morning slots, although don't book me in for Thursday slots at the moment, since I'm not sure when exactly I'll arrive.
I think I should run Cold City and Dead of Night to 100% commit to those, at the moment, but I'll put them out there for discussion.
(Someone kindly left Cold City behind the Sunday after Dragonmeet, so I now have a copy.)

Submitted by Iain McAllister on Tue, 11/12/2007 - 14:28.
I have the saturday, sunday off but need to attach a couple more days to that, probably going to be there on the Thursday all going well. Maybe coming down the wed. night. Anyway, I will be sorting that out during this week so should have an answer for you by the end of the week.
I will run Mob Justice for sure, maybe a couple of times. I am not sure what else at the moment. Maybe contenders and inspectres? Are we going to concentrate only on released games? I would like to get a Stitch playtest or two in but maybe we can just do that amongst ourselves.
Cheers
Mob Justice now available!
'The Giant Brain':Small games, big ideas.
I think...

...we should concentrate on games which are on sale on the stall first. And after that, released indie games. Personally. And I'll happily do a Stitch playtest.

Running Games
Submitted by Scott Dorward on Tue, 11/12/2007 - 15:37.
I'm more than happy to run games in conjunction with the Collective Endeavour, either at the main table or elsewhere. The only problem is that the one CE game I think I'll be experienced enough to run by then is Dead of Night.
I'm planning to offer a load of Indie games anyway, including Primetime Adventures, Dogs in the Vineyard, Mortal Coil and, possibly, Shock: or Spirit of the Century. I'd be very happy to run these under the banner of the CE if that fits with the plan, and I'll be just as happy to run them separately if that works out better.
Hmmm, interesting...
Submitted by Rich Stokes on Tue, 11/12/2007 - 16:10.
Here's my thinking on things:
Some games ought to be run at the CE table (assuming we have one) and "under the CE banner" as it were. Ideally I think we should aim to have one such game in every slot. These should be games created/published by CE members and either published or near-published.
People ought to have time to run other games too, if they want. That is, I'm running at least one Agon session during the con, and possibly a Savage Worlds game too. But they will not be on the CE table or under that banner. They'll be run as Rich, the gamer, not Rich the CE bloke. (This is assuming that there are enough "proper" CE games being run to mean that the table is in use the whole time)
In my opinion (blah blah blah) Conception isn't primarily about sales or promotion. It's about play and fun. At the end of the day, people shouldn't feel obliged to run anything at all and should run the games they want to, and will, enjoy running.
Iain if you want to run a Stitch playtest by all means do. You'll have to decide if you think it's something you should run "under the CE banner" or whether it should be just your own game run seperately. Either way, make sure you clearly mark it as a playtest though. I doubt it will put people off to be honest, but they ought to know what they're signing up for. Or try to just rope people into it for a "closed" session.
Guys this is great :) Guys

Guys this is great :)
Guys from my club are running Dogs in the Vinyard (2 scenarios),
SotC (2 Scenarios) and Cold City (4 Scenarios) so that will be plenty supported
Leaving you guys to concentrate on other stuff should you so wish :)
Id personally like some Fear Itself if any of you fancy running it and some A/State
because ive never tried it, dont rest your head would be cool also
I'd happily run some Gumshoe...

...probably Trail of Cthulhu as opposed to Fear Itself, though.
Not as part of the Indie Games Track, though, because it's not indie. And also it would cause various members of the Collective Endeavour to have a fit.

We've got a much better
Submitted by Andrew Kenrick on Wed, 12/12/2007 - 13:39.
We've got a much better location/setup than last year. This year we're up on the raised bit, and have both a stall and a dedicated games table right next to it. I don't intend to have the stall manned the whole time, as there isn't really a huge amount of through traffic whilst games are running.
I'd like a game in every slot on that table - if they're all CE games, great, but to be honest I'm happy if they're any indie games. People interested in indie games will come over and play it, and can then browse our own range of indie games.
But, as Rich says, Conception is not a sales con. We will sell books, but it's more about getting people to play indie games.
I don't recommend running a game at all on sunday afternoon - everyone will either be packing up or attending the loud raffle that takes place in the same room. I'd rather pack the stall up at lunchtime.
I'll be there from wednesday afternoon. I don't really want to run more than 1 game a day, but will gladly run anything! Definitely Dead of Night, probably Cold City, maybe Covenant (although I think Graham is more of an expert at that than me, who's never ran it!). I'd also like to have a crack at running a con game of Polaris, although the thought of that terrifies me ...

To be fair Steve, Iain has a far lower opinion of Gumshoe than I do :^P
Dying Earth, on the other hand, I think is very cool indeed.
Definitions of "Indie" vary. I can't think of any off the top of my head which apply to Pelprane though. All the stuff of theirs I've seen has been written work-for-hire by freelancers.
Not that there's anything wrong with that mind you.

I shall be there. Expect me to be taking up slots in games though as I'm really not a GM so I don't intend to run anything. I look forward to Scott running PTA or Mortal Coil though, last years game of the latter was (forgive me Graham) awesome!

This looks like a list of games people are probably running (subject to change, may not happen etc etc):
Iain: Mob Justice, Contenders, Inspectres, Stitch playtest
Graham: Cold City, Dead of Night, Trail of K'thooloo
Andrew: Dead Of Night, Covenant, Contenders, Polaris
Scott: "some of" Primetime Adventures, Dogs in the Vineyard, Mortal Coil, Shock:, Spirit of the Century
Me: Umlaut, Best Friends, Agon, Deadlands Reloaded
Totalling that up, we have
CE Games:
Mob Justice (Iain)
Contenders (Iain)
Contenders (Andrew)
Cold City (Graham)
Dead of Night (Graham)
Dead of Night (Andrew)
Covenant (Andrew)
Umlaut (Rich)
P&P (Rich)
Best Friends (Rich)
Assuming we run these all on the CE table, that's 10 slots, which is a pretty good show. It shouldn't be too hard to make sure that these games don't clash with the PGoR slots of the same games. No point having 2 games of Cold City happening at the same time.
That leaves 3 slots for non-CE games at the table:
Inspectres (Iain)
Trail of Cthulaugh (Graham)
Polaris (Andrew)
Agon (Rich)
Pretty Much Everything Ever Written (Scott)
We can happily have some games at the table, and some in Chalets or whatever. Decide nearer the time.

Actually, I'm gonna switch it around a bit and run the two games I know least well - Covenant and Best Friends, probably instead of Contenders as Iain has that covered.
Me too
Submitted by Graham W on Tue, 01/01/2008 - 09:28.
Except I need to switch to games I know well, having realised I'll have to know these Trail of Cthulhu adventures backwards. And research 1930s Shanghai. Bloody historical accuracy.
Trail of Cthulhu, Covenant and Lacuna, please. I'd run another CE game, but the one I know best, Best Friends, is being run by everyone. And Lacuna is rather wonderful.

Ok, so we now know what
Submitted by Andrew Kenrick on Sat, 12/01/2008 - 18:43.
Ok, so we now know what we're running, but do we know when? In previous years I've just put games up as and when, but maybe that's a bit too haphazard. Shall I post up a list of slots and people can say when they want to run their games and I'll edit it as I go along?
At the very least I'll make some CE sign up sheets with the names (and descriptions, if you have them) of the games on so we can just pop them up.
My Cold City Games
Submitted by IanM1981 on Sun, 13/01/2008 - 01:59.
Hiya guys, just thought i'd let you know the schedule of the cold city games that I'm running are up on the main Conception site. I think I went for thursday, friday and saturday mornings. They run as a loose campaign but people can drop in and out if need be as each one starts with a "Last week on Cold City" style flashback to get the players up to speed on the story so far.
But let me know if there are any scheduling problems or if you want them run near the CE table to try and boost the indie game coverage. You can normaly get hold of me on ukroleplayers.com with the same username as here.
Look forward to seeing you all and grabbing a few beers in a few weeks!

Gaz,
Conception has very little (read, pretty much zero) in the way of people milling about looking for something to do. It's like the polar opposite of Dragonmeet. People are all either playing a game or sleeping. Having a stall is pretty pointless to be honest.

Guys,
I'm scheduling my CE games to get the ball rolling:
Umläut: Game of Metal - Wednesday night
Best Friends: Macho Men who Can't Stop the Music at the YMCA because they're In The Navy - Friday Night
(I'm also running Agon and probably a Savage Worlds game too, but I'll do those "off CE")
You have 8 point four seconds to object before I post this to the Conception forum.
OK, call it until the end of the day then.

How about...provisionally...
Thursday night: Trail of Cthulhu
Friday afternoon: Lacuna
Saturday afternoon: Covenant
I'm generally happy to move those, but I'm not there on Wednesday and don't really want more than one a day. And I'd quite like Cthulhu in an evening slot.
I'm probably uncontactable for the next couple of days, just so you know.

wed evening - Umlaut (Rich)
thurs morning - Mob Justice (Iain)

fri morning - Dead of Night (Andrew)
fri afternoon - Lacuna (Graham)
fri evening - Best Friends (Rich)
sat morning - Contenders (Iain)
sat afternoon - Trail of Cthulhu (Graham)
sat evening - Dead of Night (Scott)
sun morning - Best Friends (Andrew)
Carry on posting when you want to run something and I'll edit the schedule to match. Hmm, we appear to only have 3 slots free to accomodate both Iain and Scott. How's that happened? Anyway, I'm happy to drop one of my games if needs be.

I've rearranged the schedule slightly - I've moved Covenant into a friendlier slot, even if it does mean playing Dead of Night first thing friday morning.
However, we do have some unsightly gaps! Namely the primetime slots of thursday evening and saturday evening! Gaming gold dust, whoever wishes to claim them! Mayhaps we can tempt Scott to run something in one of them?
